1) I thought about making special models for them, but then figured hat it would be more trouble then its worth. Most of the Skaarj models have larger forarms. Hence when attached the shackel portion of the model seems to dissappear into the model leaving just the claws to stick out. The Melee Claws are much bigger then most of the ones that are part of the models so the claws on the model tend to not be as noticable. Ill see if i can get some pics.lord_kungai wrote:Nice!!!

Whatever happened to making the claw model invisible on Skaarj models and making them visually 'use' their own claws? It'd still be the same skeleton points and damage as the normal claws would be, but they'd be invisible.LoQtUS wrote:I thought about making special models for them, but then figured hat it would be more trouble then its worth. venalanatomica, Yea i watched AvP night before last and had to install Avp2 to get a little Alien and Pred action in. Talk about a creepy game. The human part is pretty freaky. hehehe
Mætlöaff, it doesnt sound like a bad idea, allthough the bone structure wont match the Skaarj Claws exactly, and im not sure that the animations will twist the claws on the player model to represent the animations properly. You may end up with Skaarj models doing damage when their claws are nowhere neer their enemy. Likewise you may have the Skaarj doing manuvers that look good with the Melee claws, but look rediculous with Just the model's claws. All the coders will have to do to acheive this effect is set the texture of the Claw model to a transparent texture when the Skaarj Model is chosen. Again, We can look into it, but i can see all kinds of issues that it may bring up.

not all skaarj models ive seen have 2 claws engaged anyway...i think. plus loq's models look well more meaty, the skaarj ones just look somewhat insubstancial now...
avp2 is awesome, its only creepy as a marine tho, with the others you're invincible almost....cant wait to get some pred style combat tho.....
BTW (EDIT) thsi isnt really related, but still melee orientated, why does the claw no longer do melee? ( i heard u an jb decided olde style weapons, is this why?)

No Sir, This is not true. I had nothing to do with the development of the Claw Gun other then to stand by and offer my openions. I am not good enough to do that model. That one was done by none other then the Big Dog Himself Spa. I dont know why the Melee mode was taken out of the Claw 2. Maybe because we knew that it was going to get multiple ammo types. Wish i had an answer for you, but unfortunatly i can only speculate.venalanatomica wrote: BTW (EDIT) thsi isnt really related, but still melee orientated, why does the claw no longer do melee? In the original UT2003 make of chaos we had a first-person melee weapon (the bastard sword) that basically acted like the sword from UT1 (think shield gun/impact hammer if you didnt play those). It was fairly buggy, and very hard to use. This was the same time as the main development on the claw, so its probably one of the reasons that mode wasnt put in.
I make Darth Vader look like a teenage punk with a lightsaber.
ah ok. i take it getting melee weapons in first person is well hard yeah? i presume thats why f4 is locked in duel. Its a pity it didnt work out the claw was pretty cool, and first person melee would have been...interesting.
cheers for answering my q anyway.
(i take it there a no plans for a third person claw melee attack...)
