Downtime explaination

Whoever commonly visits these forums may have noticed a few days of downtime... So, here's what happened -- the short version, because I really don't feel like giving all the details, since I've just spent 4 days working on this, it's 1:50 AM and I'm tired. On May 5th, 12:55:24 UTC, one of the hard ...

Nice. We use ClearOS at home right now, for a router, though we've also used IPCop in the past -- both firewall distros.

Re: Testing a new Chaos server setup.

Unfortunately, my firewall distro wasn't created with games in mind. It's very robust and very fast though, so once I get the rules set up it should rock. PFSense isn't referenced at portforward. they don't cover linux based firewalls, but thanks for the thought :) Used that place a lot with vanill...

Installed ChaosUT2 3.76.
Hey, did you install the ECE Bonus Pack, or maybe did it come with your UT2K4 copy? Note that the 3369 patch doesn't come with the bonus pack. That pack is a prerequisite for the mod.

Re: Official Chaotic Dreams Public Server – empty, why?

Hey, there seems to be a problem with the server over there (I think the primary HDD might be [semi-?]shot), so I guess it might be time to finally migrate it to the big server. Should be much more reliable though, provided that it doesn't slow down the other websites (like these forums) too much. I...

Re: Official Chaotic Dreams Public Server – empty, why?

Hey, first things first -- sorry for the late reply, been busy for the last few days. And sure, I can change that, but I probably won't be able to do so today. The reason it's set to min. 2 players (meaning, 1 bot when nobody else is in) is because it can be annoying to have bots in some matches. I ...

Re: Website move

Hey, you may have noticed some downtime -- I apologize for that, but it is because the whole server has been moved to new (better!) hardware. Now guaranteed to be 150% more shiny! Better hardware across the board -- sometimes by far -- *and* it costs less! There was no warning in advance because I h...

By the way, the patch is also available here as a direct download:

... specifically, the ChaosUT2_3_81_Patch_Zip.zip file there.

Emergency measures -- README IF YOU WANT TO REGISTER

Hey there! It would appear that the current system of user activation no longer does the trick, as there have been massive amounts of spambots posting all sorts of stuff all over these forums... As an emergency measure, I have temporarily set each user registration to be manually activated. I have a...

Re: Do you believe in UFO?

I think that the question is not clear enough; are you asking: 1) Do you believe in the "UFO phenomena" (though I'd have a *lot* to say on that topic; remember what the 'U' in there stands for!), as in, that an extraterrestrial race has or is visiting Earth or 2) Do you believe that they e...

Re: Arma2 anyone?

For those interested, GOG has a completely DRM-free (or so they claim) Arma II here:

They also have UT2004 (and UT99, plus Unreal 1 and Unreal 2, for that matter) if you're interested.
