The Chaos Mac installer and starter was not included in the .zip so you are going to have to get it in a seperate download.

You don't need the absolute latest patch for UT 2k4 for Chaos PR 3.6 to work but it is always good to have the latest patch. The latest version number is 3369.2. Here is the URL for the patch:
http://treefort.icculus.org/ut2004/ut20 ... -2.dmg.bz2

Here is the URLs:

Last updated: 1/31/08 - New version of the Chaos Starter
Chaos Starter:
v. 4.0

I will be writing a tutorial within the next few days which will walk mac users thru an easy manual install. This will allow us to have a clean Chaos install in its own folder. I am planning on writing it so that chaos will activate from a separate launcher, but I could make it so it is always "activated" and available when normal ut2k4 is launched. Any opinions?

make sure to mention the mac texture workaround for the nades and flamethrower.

Launcher doesn't seem to work.

The installer worked... But I could seem to get the launcher to work.

It says something about it could create a txt preferences file, in the preferences directory, which was odd becuase when i checked the directory there were two CUT files there. A prefs file and a txt file.

I tried repairing directory perrmissions, but that didn't help.

Any suggestions?

Peace

@ jedi - The texture issue was fixed in an official patch back in 2k3

@ Tangent - The installer currently does everything that you will need to worry about. The launcher was used with another method of installation which will be explained in an upcoming tutorial. If the installation was successful simply launch ut2k4 and enjoy Chaos!

I ran into the same general issues above. But when I start UT normally I get nothing new. Largely because the contetns of the ChaosUT folder were installed into a seperate ChaosUT folder within the UT 2004 package.

Should some of hte ini files be modified to point toward the new content? Or was the content installed int eh wrong place?

Yup I still got nothing.

OK, there is sopose to be a ChaosUT2 folder in the base directory of the package contents, aka. Unreal Tournament 2004.app:ChaosUT2:

For some reason, the starter works on my computer but not others. I can get around that problem but you will have to select your Unreal Tournament 2004.app everytime you run it. I don't like that so I am still researching into other ways.

I had more luck with the Santaduck toolpack and the .ut4mod format. You can get the toolpack from www.macupdate.com.

Has something to with a hidden preference file, methinks.

Update: Just updated the starter so there shouldn't be any problems with it. I also made seperate .sit files for the installer and the starter so you don't have to d/l the entire thing but of course you can stil d/l the entire thing. Also but them all in a folder called CUT so you can't use the previouse URL.

You need the latest patch for UT 2k4 for the starter to work. The version number is 3204. Here is the URL for the patch:
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14155

Entire thing:
http://idisk.mac.com/kendallp/Public/fi ... c_only.sit

Starter only:
http://idisk.mac.com/kendallp/Public/fi ... tarter.sit

Installer only:
http://idisk.mac.com/kendallp/Public/fi ... taller.sit

Starter Works!!!

Yay! Now I can use melee!

However, I noticed that if I didn't quit it before CUT started, my mouse wouldn't work.

Possible Mac Bugg

Whether I play online, host a game, or just play a botmatch. UTChaos with crash out, upon loading a new Map, after a round has been played.

For example, I could join or host, one round and play fine. But as soon as that match is over and the next map is loaded, when I get the "Press Fire to Begin" Message, that is when UT will crash out.

If I host a game or play a botmatch, it will happen after the first game. If I play online, as a client, to another machine, I can play about 2-3 matches before it will happen.

Bug reported...

I likewise crash after 2 o 3 matches -- CTF, KOH, DM, no matter. I'll send you a crash log if it would help track down the bug.

Also, should I be seeing a CUT mutator in normal UT2K4? or must I use the CUT game starter if I want to use CUT weapons at all?

Keep up the good work, and thanks for the Mac attention.

You should use the starter to get to Chaos. And for that to work in the first place, you would have needed to install in correctly. To see if you have installed it correctly control click on the UT 2k4 app and select the "Show Package Contents" menu item. Then in the window that pops up, make sure you have a ChaosUT2 folder in there.
As for the 2-3 matches thing, I am not sure if that is a Mac related bug. Send the log to Jb and myself. Also, update to the latest version of UT 2k4 that was released today and see if that makes a difference:
