[resolved] ChaosUT2 Log

Post by genman »

When I play Chaos on the official server it doesn't generate a log in my Chaos/System folder. It does generate a log in my UT2004/System folder, any idea why ?

How are you connecting to the servers, via starting Chaos then joining?

No connecting thru XFire, I've always used XFire.

Did the installer change with the new release, when I installed ver 3.6 I could start and uninstall Chaos from the program section. I've noticed with ver 3.7 it doesn't have this. I think this is why it generates the log in the UT system folder instead of the Chaos system when using XFire.

genman1,

soo sorry for your trouble but nothing really changed with our install process. We used the same method to create the U's as we did last time. Not sure why your logs are going in the wrong spot nor why the un-install is not working. Do you have the chaosut2 entery in your manifiest.ini?

And for the logs, maybe if you ranmed your INI's (chaosut2.ini, chaosut2users.ini, ut2004.ini and users.ini) in the chaos and main system dir.. as that could help to fix what appears to be a path issue to your log files.

Again sorry for the trouble!

jb,

Here's another question for ya.

When I first D/L'ed the latest release the Umod had a file association problem. I reassociated the Chaos Umod with the UT set-up and installed the mod. I just D/L'ed the full and patch Umod again on 2 seperated system and they too have an association problem.

I decided to check and see if this problem is happening with version 3.6, so I unzipped version 3.6 and the Umod file has no file association problem, either do any of the official epic patches or any other Umod installers I have. Chaos ver 3.7 full and patch are the only Umod installers having the association problem.

I've D/L'ed both files from FileFront Indirect HTTP (California, USA) and GameServers.Net FTP (The Netherlands).

I have a feeling that the problem I'm having and possibly problems others are having may have to do with the Umod itself.

The program with the file association is that we mistakening shipped the UMODs with .umod extension whereas they should have had .ut4mod extension. It can simply be renamed.

Thanks that took care of the extension problem.

Interesting. Wondering how we didn't have file association issues when our umods were tested before release.

Update: It looks like the log problem has to do with XFire, they must have changed something in their latest update that has the Chaos mutator execute through reg UT when joining a server from the XFire browser.

Yep everything seems to be working fine, the log problem only applies to XFire and the missing Chaos mutator was fixed utilizing R Flaggs suggestion.

Thanks for all of your help guys.
