Piñata Gametype (updated again, now with bouncy AVR's p2)
I tried to post this earlier, but my PSU crapped out on me...
So, Melee gametype, played in DM levels. Uses Relics. Lots of relics...
Objective is to finish the round with the most relics.
To that end, everyone can pick up and use as many relics as they want.
Relics spawn in place of weapons, as many as necessary, including duplicates as required.
Also included are anti-relics which are the opposite of one of the normal relics. But anti-relics still count as a relic for your score... (a player with a speed relic and an anti-speed relic moves at normal speed, but has a score of 2)
Additionally, every melee hit knocks off a relic that can't be picked up by anybody for ~3 seconds, in addition to doing normal damage.
When you die you drop half your relics and re-spawn with the other half. Relics dropped on death can be picked up immediately.
Frags are only counted for tiebreakers and bragging rights (score breaks down by Relics>Frags>Deaths>proportion of anti-relics picked up).
Multiples of the same type of relic give an enhanced version of the base relic's effect (greater speed, more vengeance skulls etc.). Same for anti-relics.
The proportion of relics to anti-relics is set as part of the game rules, like teamdamage.
Team games can be decided by either most relics overall, or "colossus mode" individual with greatest number of relics wins the round for their team. That individual also gets the KOTH crown so he can be picked out/upon...
But I still can't come up with a decent name for the gametype...
So, am I crazy or is this a good idea?

OK, so I came back and whoa! Positive response! My glee is unbounded!
O'course, I do see a couple of glitches that might need ironing out, like relic throwing; it either has to be in the order you picked them up (first in first out) or random, otherwise you're gonna get people tossing anti-relics all over the place, which wouldn't be very much fun, now would it?
What I really want to know is what you guys think of the "colossus mode"?
'cause I had another idea regarding that - the guy on the team with the most relics becomes a literal colossus, their body increasing in size "to contain the massive energies of so many powerful artifacts", like the BigHead mutator, but for the body (not the head though, that stays the same )
What I'd really like to see is a huge open air DM map with hundreds of relics, so that the Colossus' could get to be super-stompy-huge and start duking it out with each other whilst a swarm of minions have a full on battle around their feet....
So, yeah, you guys like the idea? I would love it if it happened....
P.S. Baseball bat? That's a hell of an idea there...make it a Superweapon and borrow the hitsounds from the HomeRun Bat in Super Smash Bros.

There\'s already the monster weapons. How about making \"monster\" versions of each weapon and making them super melee weapons or something?

Maybe, but that would ruin Colossus; the whole point is that the team give their relics to the biggest guy so he can get bigger, because the team with the biggest guy at the end wins...
