NEW REVISION- Duel Melee map "MK4's Elder God stage&

I would love to play these maps as ever since Doom I've wanted to make something along these lines, but I only have UT2003. :(
These days, life may be slow, but at least I've got my movie in Post Production.

these are for the Ut2003 version of Chaos. the ut2k4 one isnt out yet.

Where are the maps for UT2003 to download? I only saw the ones available for Unreal Tournament.

I know that, I'm talking about the Mortal Kombat Maps for UT2003, not regular maps. I only saw them for regular UT.

Cool, finally a direct link... I downloaded and played both the pit maps and the Elder God stage already, pretty cool.

The bot doesn't do very well on the first Pit map, whenever it gets knocked down into the pit, it can't navigate its way to the jumper, but it does quite well on the 2nd version. What's fun to do is jump outside of the pit and use the grappling hook to connect you, then watch the bot jump in after you. :)

Some nifty stuff in the maps so far. I'm gonna check out the Tower next as soon as it downloads. Thanks.

sweet- never thought to grapple fake the bots!! :)
Anyway- yeah- the bot AI failure on the first PIT is one of the reasons I made the Dark-Remix version. Those chaos melee bots are WAY too dumb to navigate damage triggers or volumes for some reason. Regular Deathmatch bots never exhibited the same retardation around the pit spikes. Anyway- you like my fatality event with MK1 authentic fatality music when you fall outside the pit? The MK2-tower has the mk2 type fallout fatality action if you fall off the tower... good stuff :)

Very good stuff. On the tower map, the bots weren't as liable to jump out after me when I jumped out the side and grappled.

I wish the maps were expanded for stuff like Invasion or Deathmatch (or at least allowed the option, the pit is a really cool duel map, but I could see it being an insane deathmatch map as well). For expanding, maybe, like on the tower map, there is a place where the way down is barred... you could have that open somehow and add onto the tower.

Or, what I think might be really cool is have each of the Pit levels from each of the Mks built side by side, so I could jump off one pit past it, grapple to the next bridge and flip around on it.

The Pit WAS initially a DM map actually. But I had dropped work on my maps for a while- lack of general interest for MK themed DM maps (and I had been making them for years since original UT -so was getting tired of it (see my links in signature and see screens in screenshots section- only a couple UT ones got released, even though most were fairly finished).... When I discovered CHaos Duel Melee was coming out I cranked up my work again and focused on this mod.
I do hope to redo the maps for DM - although I won't be able to use all my cleverly timed triggers and events though.
About the lower area in the tower- Yes, it could be opened up for more player load for DM purposes.
The side by side pits idea sounds crazy! :)

ps- thanks for your interest in MK themed UT maps... there aren't many of us out there :)
I'm not sure what other mapper's MK theme work you have seen and played, but I think you will find that, unlike them, I primarily focus on an accurate recreation of the original, rather than loose interpretations/resemblances. Then gameplay comes second. Some people don't like that, but I think its just damn cool to accurately re-create MK maps into UT, especially bringing the 2d ones into 3d and being able to intereact within them. Then I take it a step further and bring in the original music and sound effects.
BTW, I started bringing MK to 3d back with the original Doom. I actually had almost a complete MK modification of enemies, some midi music and ALL the sound effects replaced, and a few maps-- then some IDIOT deleted it all when I let my brother borrow the PC at college- GRRrr!

Yeah, I've seen screenshots of your UT Maps, and I really wanted a crack at them. I loved the idea of combining two stages (one on top of the other) like you did for one of them, which is where the idea came for the Pit beside Pit idea. You could probably create some kind of cavern pathway (like in the movie) to attach the different bridges, but being able to jump across ravines and use the grappling hook to make it across would be cool.

On the Elder God stage, the quad trap I found quite effective. The first time, I didn't even know what happened. Those are the kind of smart additions that make the maps worthwhile.

Now, if only we could use the grappling hook like Scorpian's Spear... hmmm, maybe have the 'Get over here' sound whenever one fires their hook? It might be cool to have a couple built in powers during melee duel, like Sub-Zero's freeze. Hmmm.

yeah- I have been hoping for a grapple hook to fight- but mods think its too powerful as a weapon. I have also been waiting for freeze and fire too- they are coming from what I have seen from the chaos mod progress- but are weapon based, not magical "hand spewed" powers.

This comment I'm about to say is long over due, but hey, whatcha gonna do?

After playing on the re-make of Elder God Temple I miss the "butt-ugly" faces... it gave it that MK feel and look... now it doesn't even feel like I'm playing on a MK themed map anymore :(

so you are saying that multitexture cloud effect I mixed over the "butt-ugly" faces makes it feel less like an MK map that much??? Thats odd. I never really felt that way and I'm a picky bitch :)
In actuality the faces were supposed to have a watery effect to them, which you can see by viewing the MK Gold FMV endings for a couple characters... but stupid Epic turned off the watery effects and watery detail textures for ut2k3 :(
So the cloudy effect, I thought, was the closest substitution...
Next time give feedback SOONER! :)

Not necessarily as a weapon, but as a means to pull the enemy to you and stun them a very brief moment so you can use your melee weapon on them... or maybe not even stun, but just to be able to pull the enemy to you might even make melee combat in normal deathmatch more viable. Plus, it would just be cool to pull them towards you and say 'Get over here.'
