Just a thought.
CUT2:Evolution Release 1.01 Bug Thread
Spa was able to remove the FireTextures from the Vortex and still keep the same effet. I may ask him to do the same thing for the Posion and Fire Effects that display on your HUD. So long as we can keep the effect is what I am worried about. Also Steve from Epic said FireTextures are very stressfull on video cards...

grenades
This is minor but is kinda annoying...
You guys remember how grenades would fly weird when you're moving in 1.00? It was fixed for left/right movement, but they still do the same thing when you're moving forward/backward. So grenades fly furthur when moving forward, but when you're moving backward, it hardly goes anywhere. This throws me off when I'm trying to estimate where it's going to go, and I get myself killed sometimes when trying to kill a pursuer while walking backwards. Please fix...

Re: grenades
I believe that this is purposefull: the inertia generated by you moving forward or backward would alter the trajectory and force of a ballistic projectile. It's just realism.T-Bone7 wrote:This is minor but is kinda annoying...

On a different note, every time I use a CUT2 weapon UT2k3 crashes to the desktop with a msg like

This happens with any weapon, any firing mode. The models and ammo are displayed fine, and I can, for example, load the 5 bolts into the crossbow, but the instant it releases, the game crashes.
I also have to complain about the fact that in the .zip DL, there is no installation instructions. The help file just says that documentaion is included-- but there is none in the online help either. So I relied on my own knowledge and best guesses to extract the files. I believe that this may be the problem, so could someone please let me know where all of the files go? Thx much,
Aldrenean

that error is caused from not having the version 2225 patch normally. We had a few people that had that in version 1.00.
The zip installation has help files in the help directory, but its mostly a copy of the online docs. The instructions were to use the extract all command and point it at your C:\UT2003 folder.

The way it happens in the game is that it's really not that realistic. In real life, if you were walking backward and fired a grenade, the fact that you were walking backward wouldn't magically suck all the velocity out of the grenade. It's a grenade launcher. Operative word: Launcher. The effect should only be very slight, if any effect at all. I've seen games that do this and it's horribly unrealistic. No matter what you're doing when you shoot, it's not going to have that much of an effect on the projectile, because the differences are just so extreme. A projectile would have to move so slowly that it would be nearly ineffective in any combat situation in order for your movement direction to have any real impact on its inertia. Add to that the fact that air friction would counteract any such drift anyway, and the whole thing becomes even more unrealistic. Not even strong wind can alter the path of a bullet or most other projectiles that much. Now maybe if it were something like a boomerang, frisbee, or somesuch. Then I could see using effects like that.
