you know we should have more urban maps.

I think the dome idea makes a lot of sense. But two domes would allow for nice onslaught action with different themes which is my original map idea. Perhaps one modern but partly destroyed, the other ancient ruins because the idea was that the city was great but at some point lost and now the place is somehow forbidden.
Perhaps the domes are there to protect against the forest and the ruins are somehow connected to the destruction, so they are "evil"? Tunnels could be made to connect the two, but would be very difficult to use in practical terms. The idea in my head is that they are near a ridge so there big dropoffs in unexpected places and that there are many good snipe spots. I like sniping and hunting down my opponents on foot equally, so there would have to be a balance in terms of play between the styles for me to really be happy with the map.
Lord Kungai, if you could help me bring this to reality I would be a very happy person. I would love to see how you would interpret the idea. What I would like to see is how we view this differently. If you could help and would like to, PM me please. As soon as I can I will try to make this map. If I cannot, I will be very unhappy with myself. Unfortunately, I will be going away to a place w/o the internet or computers for a while and will not be able to work on this so no matter what, if I made it, it would not be released until fall at the earliest.
By the way, my location is in my head, but my life is still firmly planted in the real world.

I like your Double Dome-ination idea for a map and I can even go as far as design you one, but my abilities to help stop there for i am beyond hopeless at using Unreal Edit . But if you or somebody else could actually make the map, it would be cool.
So your map should have:
>Two domes, one mordern ghost town (red), one medival ruins (blue)
>Bases are within the domes
>forest seperates the to domes
>Domes are seperated by a (massive, bottomless) ridge caused by an earthquake (which caused the fall of the great city?)
>(huge)Bridge across the ridge
>Node on the bridge
>2 nodes on either side of the bridge
>4 more nodes (this could be one huge map, maybe the size of Dria), 2 next to the red base, two next to the blue base.
>underground tunnel system connecting the powercores with one bridge node on their side.
>You could even call it Ruination2

This is going to be killer if I can make it and make it look good and play well. By the way I was actually thinking smaller in size, as I have enough problems with onslaught framerate as is so keep it small, but the chasm, now that has potential. The buildings must all be somewhat ruined if possible. Kungai, How bout this name: AgelessRuins?

How about a space Onslaught map with two BIG space stations on opposite sides of the map and Power nodes on big rotating asteroids floating between the space stationss. The Power Cores sit on the stations' centers, with one or two Power Nodes on the stations themselves. The rest of the Power Nodes are on the asteroids and can only be accessed via space fighters/bombers and maybe some space dropship things. The asteroids have bases in/on them, and the only way to get in would be to land in the dock or landing bay. The bases and nodes will be protected by both exterior and interior gun turrets and stuff.

I like a lot of the urban onslaught maps and a forest with a city would make a very good mix! maybe a chaosCTF level where one base is high in space and another is in a forest and both have teleporters that lead into a city. also an alternate route could be to go through a ranch town. it would be one hell of a map!

To all those who have said they would like to see the map, I will say this: I will not be able to build and test the map I suggested until late this year, think November/December. If you would like a map like this sooner, please feel free to take the idea and use it. I would need some time as I will be very busy for a very long time. However, I will do as much as I possibly can until then. After May, please do not try and prod me into building it, I will not be able to be contacted for a while.

I'm fine with any name, as long as you can make the map well. Take your time, UT2005 isn't coming around soon.ChaosJester wrote:Kungai, How bout this name: AgelessRuins?

I originally thought that on the computer I am using now i might not be able to use the editor. It looks that even on a GeForce 2 (Epic claimed the engine was improved, now I know it to be the case-- I couldnt use the 2003 game at settings high enough for the editor) it will be possible. I have some free time coming up quick, I will begin work if possible. I will work on it for a while perhaps work on my Assault idea too.

i generally lurk on forums... this post made me register to post an idea i had...
i REALLY like urban maps... back in Q3A, i loved the map Platform 7(i think it was called that) due to, while being small, it had lots of great ways to do things... rooftop sniping, rooftop chasing, going into the subway, etc...
i came up with this idea when i first got UT2004, but lack of mapping abilities caused me to give up and forget about it....
it's an onslaught map, with 5 nodes...
each base is a militarieque fortification, with a node at the gate
in the middle, is a city, with three buildings that are enterable, and have a node in an upper 'office', the three are all linked to each other, and are all linked to the gatenodes
on the rooftops of the three, is a raptor, as well as a sniper rifle
underground, is a 3-lane subway, with goliath tanks spawned by each of the bases, as well as the middle building... the tanks are on-rails due to being in the subway rail areas
haven't worked out much other vehicles, but i hope this inspires someone, this would probably be a fun map to build, if i had the skills to do so...
the node setup i came up with was something like this
___[]____

i really hope this post helps someone...
