Speed hack?

Post by Lastat »

EDIT:Can a Mod move this to ChaosUT forum. I posted in wrong place.sorry

Hi :) I just downloaded this(ChaosUT2) and was playing with buddies and a few jumped in the game :P cool! after a bit it popped up a warning message player(can't remember name) is using speed hack and the game started jerking and eventually crashed. His remarks in the room were something like "not again..here we go again"

Whats happening please?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

P.S. I did a search for speed hack here in the forum and didn't notice anything.

Yes, the speedhack issues were something that Epic introduced with the last patch. I think it's related to UTSecure, but either way.....

another patch of UT2004 or UTSecure seems to be in order. There is a beta patch out again, not sure if it addresses this or not.

Furry did some kind of tweaking I think to our test server when we applied last patch, but I'm still getting it a lot on the public server.

The most current Beta patch from Epic (not for public just yet) has helped to correct this issue as well.

It also might be related to anti TCC. That one was kicking people off the server left and right last night . all false alarms.

Its related to the last patch, i was getting it a lot too. There is a setting in the server settings that can be used to tweak it, but in reality its based on lag as i remember.

The three settings applicable (and note this is on the SERVER) are:
MaxTimeMargin
TimeMarginSlack
MinTimeMargin

You would need to search around for the recommended values however.
