Relic WIP Effect Screenies

Folks,

here are some WIP of the Relic Effects (keep in mind they could change a lot from now until the time we ship out the next PR version). The idea was to try to have some sort of visual clue to what relic the player had. So we used a combination of effects to do this. Some are overlayers, some are emitters attached to players. We tried not to do the same thing. Some of the effects have more than one visual to them. Any ways....hear ya go

This has a Green Overlay Shader that covers the player. Not the best, not the worst.


Vampire Effect:

The first one tries to show what happens when you hit a player. Its very hard to see in the screen shot but it shows the enemies "blood" that you just hit..leaving them and entering your player. The 2nd pic is the overlay effect of the player with the vamp relic.

Here you have white "trails" that follow the player.


Sheild:

Here you have your protive sheild that covers the player to help decrease the damage they receive.

You have two effects. One the big big explosion. The second is skulls that flow out of the player.

It was actually based on the life steal effect from Rune, but we kinda went and did our own thing with it.

i guess u cant wear multiple relics at a time so u wont be to overpowered

nice work on em reminds me of UT99 relics hehe

i think speed wud be particarly usefull in CTF games -dreams of running off with the flag with speed relic

That vengeance explosion is awesome. How big is the blast radius?

The effect is about half the size of a redeemer explosion. The actual gameplay effect isn't nearly strong enough IMO... But hopefully that will change.

Strenght:The glow is a bit too large,aint it?

shield:only shows up when hit?looks too bulky

Str glow looks a lot better ingame imo. Its noticable from any angle from the weapon and stuff usually covers up enough to not make it look too big.

Shield is still being tweaked a bit.

As for vengeance, the explosion radius is the same as the redeemer (2000UUs), but damage isnt lethal at all ranges.
I make Darth Vader look like a teenage punk with a lightsaber.

Shield was made a little big so that it fits around large custom models, but I think it would look best if it only came on when hit. That was discussed as well and, like Jedi says, its still being tweaked. Looks good in-game though, since it animates. It has a kind of cool glow to it.

As for the venge explosion, personally I think the lethal range should be increased and the damage falloff should be more shallow. Right now, even when im close enough that the explosion fills my screen I feel like I'm getting hit by a gust of wind and thats about it. Ah, maybe I should save this for the dev forum.

The Vengeance explosion should be a freaky color, like red or purple.

And can you make the skulls fly our in the explosion?
