Server Problems!! Please fixor
FurrySound sir -
Upon returning to play on the public server, I find that the "Speed Hack Detected" bug is just as bad, or worse than ever before. It cost me 24% of my fun factor yesterday.
Please remove the UTSecure once and for all, so that we can play in peace (and I hear AntiTCC is even worse these days).
TY Sir!

Yea but it would be nice to have that list handy before we play...nothing kills the mood more than having to get a map when you want to play...R.Flagg wrote:Ty Furry, I'll let you know how it goes.
Pep, I know most of the VCTF ones can be found in the VCTF section on Unreal Playground.
(hopefully many more to come! been havin' fun with that)

Im sure most of you know about it already, but for those who don't, to remedy this problem, you can redirect people's clients to download a compressed version of user created maps, textures, and meshes by setting the Http Redirect settings to a web server that you have offsite. This makes things 20 times faster and causes no lag to the people currently playing on that server. Most map DL's are so quick with a broadband connection that its no huge task to play a level you dont have.
The settings are in your server ini file, Look for:
[IpDrv.HTTPDownload]
RedirectToURL=
ProxyServerHost=
ProxyServerPort=3128
UseCompression=True
set yours up like that as well, and enter a website folder where you have access to ftp the files. You may also use mine that I have set up for my Duel server. I have most non-official duel map releases redirected and it leads to a speedy download and no lag. Here is mine:
[IpDrv.HTTPDownload]
RedirectToURL=http://www.zclans.com/generals/redirect
ProxyServerHost=
ProxyServerPort=3128
UseCompression=True
To Compress, use the UCC.exe and put compress at the command line:
UCC Compress mapname.ut2
or
UCC Compress texture.utx
etc.
the file made is a *.uz2 file and thats a compressed file that UT can handle for redirection. Upload this smaller file and the client can take it from there.
Hope this was beneficial for someone.
I would like to make a general server that we all can upload compressed maps/textures to and use. I've done it for other mods and it worked pretty well.

Rythm is Gonna Get Ya!
Yup. Perhaps we can talk Furry into updating his site with links to maps, like this old one:jb wrote:Yea but it would be nice to have that list handy before we play...nothing kills the mood more than having to get a map when you want to play...R.Flagg wrote:Ty Furry, I'll let you know how it goes.

Well, it isn't vehicles, but I'd recommend it anyway-

Ty Rythmix, I've had that running since UT99 It just appears those couple maps were missing
I'll be adding them in shortly, and most likely redo the map list on my site to have links to each map. Speaking of which DH posted some map to add also.

Much like my computer, which you fixed today with your help thru PMs, this too seems to be fixed right up. Well, guess I can't speak for everyone, but I haven't seen the "speed hack" thing since you posted that.FurrySound wrote:Try it now and let me know.
Thank you for all the various (and expert) help you've given me, Mr. FurrySound.

Icefields can be a very fun map. There are not enough fun VCTF maps IMO.
So I would suggest instead of ditchig the map, just kick those players who use that type of exploit. At least until we get more decent maps.
(edit: btw- there have been many map exploits over time, you'd lose a lot of cool maps if you ditched them all. Even Q2DM1 had a bad one, but we managed to have fun on that map for years. Better to address the players with 'exploit attitudes'.)
