Players fall on their backs

Post by Rythmix »

I think i may have mentioned this long ago, but can't remember if it was for this mod or not. But I was thinking, for the duel (yea i know.. melee again heh) if it would be possible to make players fall on their backs when hit in the air. Kinda like Mortal kombat style when you get upper cutted, you fly thru the air and land on your back, then have the player push a key to get back up, or if the player is lying down you could do a stab move downward on to them for more damage points. (maybe the harder the hit, the longer it takes to get backup, and the more time to get a stab move in) Would make for some cool combos and gameplay.

I want to see that with hoverboard collisions.

It would be just hilarious to see a guy fly off a hoverboard after smashing into a rock or a tree.

I seriously want to see decent block/parries and throws. Those would be fun.

And would there be any way to make hits more accurate? Inaccuracies in hit detection are very apparent in slo-mo.

Thats not a bad idea. However we would have to create a set of animation or code that ensure the player is on his back. Then have animations that take up from going down to up (ideally going from down to crouch).. Maybe?

I'd also like some rolling animations for mid-air crouching or dodging while crouching.

Different holding/crouching animations for melee weapons would be cool, too.

Yea crouching roll for a crouching dodge would be ideal!

Yeah.

And crouching right before hitting the ground while falling should negate the fall damage and prevent you from falling on your back.

The mod Muralis has a pretty cool system for falling on backs, and whatnot. Might wanna check that out to maybe get some ideas, or something.

thats the last thing I would like to see,CUT's melle even nearing muralis

Muralis has a pretty strange system for combat, the anim's dont meld too good, suddenly switching to you on youre back during a attack

if a falling is implelemented,it must be seamless and rare

on the theme of muralis its most dubbed feature:Open ended combo system is a bit funny, combo is a few hits in a line,no special animation, attack, damage, nothing

I dont remember if its FatalArts or Muralis, but one of the guys has a "wolverine-claws-coming-out" effect when you push a button that is bad a$$ looking, almost like a powerup function. unfortunately thats the only cool thing in the game, the movement is jerky and u cant move when you punch, so its really weird, which is why Kakutou was so much better... fluid movements from punch punch kick jumpkick wall dodge.. without missing a beat.
