Thanks to my initial misinterpretation of that, I came up with another idea/suggestion.
(Pardon my rushed sketch, above is side view, below is top view)
Two blades with an arc of electricity between them. The best way I could come up with to describe there shape was to draw them. Picture it though with each blade rotated slightly, such that the two sharp edge side of the blades (closest to the palm side of the wrist) would be slightly closer together then the back edges of the blade. This way, the side view would have a little more visibility of the blade.
(Oh, and as a quick note I recommend the inward curvature of the blades so that the arcing at the tips will look right and somewhat realistic.)
*This could bring about a "charging" feature, preferably one (IMHO) that can't stay charged indefinatly.
*Also, you could have primary fire swipe one arm at a time, alternately. Secondary fire could be a arm's straight out to the left and right and then both swing inward, this time simultaneously. The result would be a more powerful bolt would arc
between each pair/hand of blades rather than
inside each pair. that would do more damage, and would be capable of a headshot with proper aim. As it would be much more powerful, of course, it would have a slower rate of fire. If you've read the book
Congo, think about the grey gorilla's head attack. If you've seen the movie, well, I'm sorry to remind you of it.
*If you really want to make it gruesome, you could have the head stick to one of the claws only after a secondary fire headshot. Then have some major short circuiting going on (think moth in a bug zapper) prior to shaking the head loose or, better yet, using the other hand's blades to slide it off (an excuse to have this be in front of the person's view without it looking to showy for lack of a better word). While this would be a rare occurance, it would show some polish, especially if the animation was done well.
*Perhaps have the victim show lightning gun damage,
and blood shed when hit.
*Perhaps only have the energy arc during a fire/attack. Maybe have them intermittently arc every 5 or 10 seconds when not swinging so the constant arc sound wouldn't get annoying.
*a slight delay after holding down the secondary fire would allow for a primary fire hold during the secondary fire hold. This would cancel out the double claw squish and initiate an uppercut. Maybe have this move crouch the attacker very breifly and then jump all automatically during the move. This would damage the opponent, and send him upward with just enough force to do some additional damage should there be a low ceiling. It would also be a good way to get your opponent out of your way, especially on low-grav maps.
*Maybe even a make the uppercut a way to give your teamates a boost, or make it so it's ineffective against teamates such that it couldn't be used as an exploit on some maps.
Even without the electic arc, I think some of the ideas could still be considered, especially the uppercut if you're going to have a weapon so close to a "punching" style weapon.
What do you think?
