Website move

Post by Tim »

Okay, the move is mostly complete now - I have moved the Chaos website, forums, etc... to the new server.

I still have 1-3 websites to fully move, however, and the Chaos website and forums might experience some more downtime (mostly in the form of connection refused or 500 Internal Server Error) as fiddle with the settings to get everything up and running as I want.

Once that is done, I'll setup some proper database backups (both on-site as well as off-site) and after that, I'll (probably) continue by moving the ChaosUT2 server for UT2004 to this one.

I'll keep you posted (if I remember to :P ).

Hey, you may have noticed some downtime -- I apologize for that, but it is because the whole server has been moved to new (better!) hardware.
Now guaranteed to be 150% more shiny! Better hardware across the board -- sometimes by far -- *and* it costs less!

There was no warning in advance because I had to buy the server pretty fast (was a limited time offer thing), and wanted to migrate data ASAP, before I have to pay for another month of the old one (it gets billed on 3rd of each month). I know there's a week left even now, but in case something goes wrong, y'know...

Well, have fun, uh, Chaosing!

Good find Doc. Tim, I asked because right when their original site was about to shut down for good a guy named Tim or Jim showed up and tried to save it but failed and it went away. This place that Doc found may be a new rebirth of it but I don't know their member names so I can't tell.

I take it back. I do know some of those names. This must be their new webpage and forum. Cool. They survived!

If an admin of a site knows it is going to die, they can request that the WebArchive harvest it.
Also if (as a site owner) you setup an Alexa account, the site will be automatically harvested regularly.

You may find that the old sites are actually in the WebArchive, or at least some of it.
