the problem with RA that I experienced is that yeah, in theory there's five arenas but most of the time everybody is still in one or two arena's so there's still a line. and without the time limit you'd be waiting around 10 minutes in line.
My suggestion would be (based on my experience with heretic2 bladematch)
a central room where you can't fire your weapons or do damage with your melee weapons. in the rooms are doors/arches/whatever to the fighting arenas. you can look through the door and see if somebody's fighting inside. if there is you can move in to "the que zone." if you're in this zone you're in line for playing in that arena.
Now: if you're waiting in line and you're tired of waiting you look up to someone and hit "the challange button." this means you want to fight him right now in another arena. so if he accepts he follows you to another fighting room.
big advantage to his IMHO over RA is that: you can see easily what the line is for other arenas without leaving the line for the arena you're in at that moment.
But I'd stll wouldn't make 5 distinctivly different arenas when probably 1 or 2 will be played to death and the others will sparsely be used by newbies

a way to get rid of the problem with lines is to make it so that all players spawn at the same time and get issued a targer, the target gets issued the one who issues im,so its a duel with just players around fighting, and you could make it so that you cant kill other pair players, and after the battle you get issued a stronger opponent(at the start its random),you could tell the strongest player by the time it killed the opponent at the start,or if theres a tie,and later by frags(if there isnt a tie)

Isn't here anybody who keeps this forum clean?
spamâ„¢
(I know my avatar is big too, too lazy to upload it again - and anyway it doesn't take any space of the posts, it just looks big)

Two large sigs is a little much. They take away attention from the text in your posts.

Thank you.
Size in bytes is of course an issue, because 56k users might not want to d/l to much graphics. Size in pixels however can be an issue, too.
There's also forums out there that do not allow for motion gif or flash sigs. I don't even know if we've got strict rules for all that around here. I think as long as nobody gets disturbed in reading the posts everything is fine.
Thanks for understanding and cutting away one of your sigs.

well, theres a person having a sig as large as both of my pic's and has the size of 600kb,now talking about strict rules against me,a 100kb 2 sig user(before)

do you know how long it takes for a 56k user to load a 100KB file?
4KBs x "25 sec" = 100kb
But I don't think there are 56k users in UT2003, are there?
I just don't like it when people using 2 sig pics and they are saying the same..
2 times your name, just the pic was different. Perhaps you are just too proud on both of them to only show 1 pic

you know.. they had this sort of thing in Jedi Knights: Outcast... on the DM maps you could start a duel with someone and you could only hurt them and noone could hurt either of you except you two...
dunno if this is possible in UT2K3 without massive codewerks but hey.. sounds cool.
OR you could have it set up to spawn the people in different arenas.. sorta like in Tron 2.0...
but yet again codewerks....
sorry if this has been posted allready.. busy... meh...

Actually, if a map has 4 spawn points, all 4 could spawn and randomly split into 2 seperate 1v1's with the combatants seperated by a "fence" that would spawn in the middle of the map...
That would also take quite a bit of coding...
