What about the little crawly things, flying reptile things, or the dragonfly things? Will those work? Would melee weapons have any effect at all?

Yes you can hurt them with melees as there is some interaction. Just that we can not give the monsters any of our melee weapons or abilites....

I have so many DoC monster ideas.

Got one idea for a big rock-beastie...with horns, huge fists, a big armoured torso.
The uber-krall sounds like a good idea. Do all the DoC monsters wield melee weapons, or do some have unique attacks and the like?

Any Warcraft III unit will make a good DoC monster.

We decided not make any stuff from other games, movies etc. due to legal issues. And it's not pretty creative either, I think we can bring up some nice ideas without re-creating other peoples' content.

I'm not saying you should completely copy the units you have there, although it would be kind of interesting to fight swarms of grunts and stuff... Just saying that a lot of the creatures in there would be interesting to fight against, like gargantuan rock monsters and enormous rampaging insectoid monster...things.
And there is no way I would ever suggest that you just take the models from the game and use them in Chaos, 'cause that would be really ugly.
I don't think Blizzard could sue you for a lot of the things they have there, as they didn't really invent a lot of the creatures they have there. I'm pretty sure Blizzard didn't invent elves, or trolls, or dwarfs (dwarves, whatever), so there shouldn't be any legal problems with you using them. I think the only way you could get into trouble is by directly copying Blizzard content and using whatever they themselves created without their permission, which is definetely not something you would do.
I should probably have elaborated a little more on that.

I think DOC needs some good old fashioned decaying zombies. oh, and I dont know if this is possible, but could you make it so that you could like partially gib a monster but have it still up and fighting? as in like skeletons fighting without their heads. or arms. oh, and you might want to make custom models for skeletons that replace the giblets with bones. of course, knowing the chaos team, you're probobly like 3 steps ahead of me

I think that actually happened while the Chaos Team were developing the crossbow for UT2k3. When you nailed a headshot on a player with the crossbow, his head flew off, as it should. But sometimes the headshots did not kill the player, so sometimes you would have this guy running around headless and shooting stuff. Of course, this was fixed.
Can the monsters perform the same attacks with their weapons as the players? And will they be able to move at the same speed? I think the skeletons and zombies should be a little slow and hobble instead of walk. I mean, they are dead. They shouldn't be as agile as a living breathing person. And they should only have about 25 health and their attacks should be limited so that they are easier to kill. In order to counter this weakness, they should come in swarms! Like, HUNDREDS OF THEM! MUAHAHAHAHA!!! I think it would be funny to have them not attack with swords and stuff but with claws and severed limbs, and they should be able to throw gibs at you

Yes we should do this guys... you see this post? Make it happen
Being a fan of games such as Hexen, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Half-Life, and Doom I would love having the idea that you think an enemy is dead although it comes back to life and starts attacking you again, but this time missing a body part or too... this kind of feature in DoC would make it a 'lil more "Chaotic"

I just got a twisted idea...
Ask AngelMapper if we can put her Badger model in as a special DoC monster

Who said it had to be a zombie?
I think an attacking horde of Badgers doing their little dance would be scary enough

I am not a big fan of badgers, but I must admit that it would be somehow scary...

They'd have to constantly taunt "Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Mushroom MUSHROOM!"
