Chaotic Dreams

The only thing that i can think of off the top of my head for normal gametypes is that in UT2003 we both messed around with respawn protection, but i think we took that part out in UT2004 since it already has some respawn protection graphics.

The controllers and stuff we use shouldnt make that much of a difference since they are only in our custom gametypes and jailbreak obviously has its own gametype.

I was playing Jailbreak with Chaos yesterday. Worked great, played great.

This is what Epic calls fixing mod support: Making sure everyone who makes something needs to put it in its own folder (effectively shutting it off to everything else). Jesus, I already don't play Fraghouse Invasion because of this. Guess this is something else

So I'm confused. If you start the Chaos exe, it will have all of the vanilla 2K4 stuff, plus the mods made for it, AND the chaos stuff? Or will it ONLY load Chaos (like FHINV does)?

When you install Chaos to ut2k4 then this is what will happen:
With a small edit to your UT2004.ini that the UMOD can do for you the ChaosUT mut will be availble in standard UT2k4 and any gametypes that you have for it.

When you activate Chaos then you get Chaos stuff. Meaning the custom gametypes, chaos news, chaos irc chat, ect. We also still load standard gametypes but when you start them the chaos mut is auto loaded for those game types.

So we have just the mut for those that just want that. As well as we have a "complete" package that allows you to use all of the normal UT2k4 stuff as well as other gametypes. Basically anything thats NOT installed into its mod folder.

We wanted to stick with the mod stuff because it helped to keep all of the chaos files in one place and to make it easier if you wanted to upgrade or remove Chaos.

Does that help clear things up?

once you activate and play the mod the first time you generate a ChaosUT2user.ini and a ChaosUT2.ini

If you make a seperate startup using the -ini=(location here) and -userini=(location here) where you put in the chaos user stuff, it should add in everything you need but not be an activated "mod."

With a bit of tweaking, i suppose it would be possible to remove the menu components which might cause problems with compatibility and then have the main chaos core left. Havent looked into it myself though.

okay, bottom line: Will there be an option to use the Chaos stuff in vanilla UT2K4? Cause the only gametype I care about is Duel and we don't need custom stuff for that one.

you can play deul with vanilla weapons.
You might want to convert a bunch of 1 on 1 maps to Duel maps though for gun fighting.

well i have a question i had chaosut2 for 2k3 on this computer but i lost it so i downloaded a new version and its not working, i dont have any data on the maps, the weapons dont work but i still have the grappling hook working and when i try to uninstall it, im taken to a 2k4 demo uninstaller

plz help i want to play it and i cant play 2k3 at my moms house cuz i lost my third disk for 2k3

Are you sure you downloaded the full ut2k3 chaos version and not just a patch? Can you check your log file for errors related to chaos?
