1. Yes, you are correct. Chaos is not the first mod/game/mutator to use 'return-your-flag' rules. And I wouldn't mind a bit if UT2005/6/7 came that way outta the box. IMO it is just the way CTF should be played, fine with me if we all go that route. (and of course you can play normal rules as well, thru our mutator)
2. Jim has done a great job, yes. Last I heard before leaving to go see a movie, is that we are having some replication issues in this area, but I have faith in those who are looking into the stuff.
3. This I do not know yet. Seems that vCTF bot stuff is not easy to pull off. I see that everyone trying to map for that mode is having trouble, not just Chaos. Though I understand Loq is trying to get Bastion as bot friendly as he can, and I've got my fingers crossed.
4. There is one Chaos CTF map with vehicles that just might be ready for the release. It is called Bastion, and it's what Loq has been using as his not-so-nice intro into UT2004 vCTF bots.
We have 2 others that don't use vehicles, both from Hammerman. And they both are pretty nice too. Gargotha, and Setekh. I like Setekh the best, it just seems to be a great size and layout for the game type. Though Gargotha is cool too. Both are big enough for 5 on a team, or perhaps even more.

Are the bots for the map for ChaosvCTF using the vehicles well? Someone has found how to properly botpath for vehicles in non-ONS and AS modes. He has made a few vCTF maps where the pots use the vehicles properly, and in fact will often beat lesser players at most difficulty levels. He has a description of how to path for them here: vCTF botpathing
Part 1 and
Part 2. These are forum links. Part 2 is additional info he has found after pathing and playing against the bots.

1)I concur with R.Flagg, Chaos CTF seems to rock. I especially like the 'flag finder' idea. No more needing to waste time enquiring with f**king bots about where our flag has gone. (In flak arena. ** could also stand for 'la'!)
2)What exactly are vCTF bots
3)How did you get that pointer Kodiak?

vCTF bots are standard bots that have been pathed to properly use vehicles ala Onslaught. Unlike most vCTF maps, where the bots have not been pathed the same way, these bots will climb in a vehicle and chase you down, hunt and take the flag and more succintly, will not behave like blithering idiots and more like humans when dealing with vehicles.

You mean my crosshair? The white part is my crosshair. It's "Circle 1" I have it set to use that for all weapons. The green part is the ONS weapon line up crosshair. It appears when your turret, gun, etc has lined up with your crosshair.

Can vCTF bots be put in Onslaught and bombing run?

As far as i know, only vCTF and gametypes based on CTF work for sure along with vDM and vTDM, but I imagine, mind you I don't code, that if you have the Ball for Bombing Run, you might be able to get in a vehicle, but I am not sure if you could do anything, so don't count on it. However, since the ball launcher is a "weapon", the chances may be good that it is possible. Since VCTF is official, although with no official maps as EPIC is having issues

, it is very possible that vBR may work with little adjustment, but it could also require a full overhaul at the gametype code level. I say go for it. If it works, put a map up for download. That would be fun decapitating the ball carrier with the Scorp's secondary.

For onslaught, the pathing is easier so there is no point to pathing vCTF style. The adjustments only have to be made when it is a gametype not "original" to 2k4 ie everything except ONS and AS
