Hehe, well, that doesn't sound very "real" to me.

Yeah, I clicked on those pics, and it looks more like a bug than anything else in a couple of them. Or, as in a few of the other pics, there's not really anything there worthwhile to notice.

I dunno, but based on what I've read and seen here, I'd say an improved version of this would be nice to see in a realism mod (I'm a fan of some realism too, like INF), where I'm sneaking around the shadows, having the time to notice and enjoy such a thing, but not so much worthwhile in anything else.

The shadows in UT2004 are fine IMO, and not usually the focus of attention either. Kinda busy fraggin to worry too much about those.
well as for realisn... it said REALTIME, shadows not im putting emphasis on time :).. cool that it works now.. ti was just about to mention about the sunlight bit when i read jbs comment. if you see lensflares shouldnt the shadow also be showing up?.

maybe the sun just needs a larger radious?. humm

As for shadows popping in and out, can you make the darkness of the shadows dependent on the distance to the light?

What would be cool is if we could apply the realtime shadows to the environment as well, and make them work for dynamic lights. Then, you would have things like walls and such casting shadows that move as the lightsource moves. Would really look cool with some effects.

that would be nice, aslong as it it can be turned on(when youre trying to rescue FPS you shall too, some games suck 8 fps off becouse of somekind of bad shadow implemention, and it cant be turned off)

hehehe to do that right you need to do it at the engine level and not in uscript. Which is what they showed with the Unreal Engine 3 tech demos..you have seen that footage right?

NDA?

Non Disclosure Agreement

in other words- they have direct knowledge, through an agreement, of undisclosed tech information from EPIC... and to get that "top-secret" info they have to agree not to share it with non-team members/public.

Alls I can say is at some point we may get access to the tools before the public anything else and we could violate it. The point of the NDA was just to say we have a good releation ship with Epic. Sorry I should not have said more.

Breaking an NDA rule is probably the worst thing you could ever do. I've seen it happen, it means instant trouble.
