Thanks all! I still have a few things to do on the face part before I finalize it... (I haven't actually import any skins into UED2 'til now - I'm still working on my Spatial Fears skins for UT1 - I'm way behind do to many technical and life problems - So I have to play around with the blendings a bit - I may, depending on the body skins, add some specularity for some shine...) Then I'll copy it to my sister's computer and start a small lan to get a better screen shot... (the current one was rather limited on the camera angles and overbright lighting)

If, I have time, I'll make several different body skins... it's currently a base nude that I'll edit to make a few updates to some of the original skins.

I've thought of a few different faces to paint for it, but not an original one, yet...

Umm, haven't really touched the body skins yet (just borrowed Karsalim's)

Ok, Im done - for the most part. (Just 1 skin, so far)

I gave it specularity - but the mask kept disappearing for the leg rings (I got to keep experimenting to rid them else actually paint it)

The mask on the hair I tried to do always came out weird (when saved as a tga it changed the mask from being anti-alised to a staggery solid (so white edges kept appearing on the strands of hair (and it tended to look jaggedy too))

Can I send someone an updated pic and/or skin for them to post?

I got 2-3 more variations I intend on doing...

yes please tell me those models/skins get redone, they looked really rushed or something. But its the thought that counts he didn't have to make them period. I look forward to that redone model/skin.

Phantasma, they wont be redone becouse the maker doesnt want them to be repalced, only the skins can be improved

tho there are some that DO think that the model could use a bit of tweaking.....

So your telling me this guy is just wasting his/her time or indirectly showing more talent then the creator? I'm pretty sure when he's finish it will go up to download at some point and people will use it over the old model/skin thus replacing it in the process.
Cut the sarcasim everyone who's ever touched chaos ut knows those models/skins need tweaking(I mean come on they look like starving 3rd world people. In a realistic tournament you'd expect people like that fighting to the death over dinner. But thinking of that it kinda comes down to opinion.) Its nothing to be ashamed of, the creator didn't have to bother to do them anyway.
In my opinion they feel as rushed as the Xbox's Sudaki.

Uhhh....

When did I say I was re-doing the model? I'm just redoing the skins (well, some are remakes others are originals for the LadyChaos model)

Yes, the model has problems, but it doesn't mean a good skin can't help. The original skins lack quality, which really brought the model down further. I just wanted to help improve some things. An improved skin won't fix the model, but it will make it look better - and maybe a little more enjoyable to play.

Oh, I'll end up haveing at least 4 total skins. Only 2 will be based on the original skins - the other 2 will be mt own design.

Nice work.

But how about making the hair more realistic with an alpha channel ?

Stop it guys. Now. I think I've asked more than once for crits to be kept constructive.

The models are not an essential part of chaos. If you don't like them, don't use them. Or, like LazarusX, do your own skins for them. I don't think he's wasting his time. Everyone is free to paint their own skins. And everyone is free to use the skins he wants.
Come to think of it, you could even do your own models. I am more than happy to asstist you in either case if you need help.

Have you ever created a full playermodel from scratch? The amount of knowledge you have to accquire and the time you have to put into it are immense. We are only a bunch of guys who create CUT in their spare time. That's why some things are not AAA. Please keep that in mind.

I guess you didn't read my earlier posts.

I've already tried, for some reason it turns all jagged, no aliasing (Like using MS paint - just coarse pixels) Even though it was smoothed before I saved it! Plus, I can see white edge around the hair - which doesn't look good at all.

I'll keep experimenting - but it's no guarentee it will work.

Note: Implementing a specular shader for the body remove the masking for the leg rings too, not sure how to fix those yet either.

Also, thee are my very first UT200X skins!

If you want antialiasing in your alphas, your texture compression needs to be DXT5. Aliasing appears with DXT3, because the alpha channel only has pure white and pure black.

For the white edge around the hair, just make your alpha mask one or two px smaller.
