[long rant] Well, what do you expect of a Republican presidency, Congress and Supreme Court made up primarily of super-hawks and reactionaries that have started wars in at least two nations, may begin them in several more and hate the word information. Information wants to be free but it is being manacled by the policies of the US government. America wants to be rid of assault weapons, instead we get more, and concealed ones. 
Then the "people" seem to have a general feeling of "my country is always right" no matter how wrong it is. Then we have the lowest rates of voting of registered voters voting in almost a hundred years. Oh yeah, our judges also make our laws... more restrictive of civil rights except for our right to bear arms and make our white collar crime laws nothing but a slap on the wrist and a warning. But by God, we will have to have God in our schools and government programs, never mind our constitution's requirement against it, even if we can't directly mention God or make any overtly religious reference.
