I think its fine the way it is. The grappling hook is the best thing that this or any mod has ever done to UT2K4, and to limit it at this point would just suck.

A mutator, not completely......god no that would suck, a mutator would be admins choice.... (slap)

Grapple is classic Chaos. It is as much a part of our mod as the proxy. We have discussed more realistic physics for it, bendy cables, and making it behave more realistically, but ultimately I don't think it will ever change. At this point, even changes that could be good will be dismissed in favor of preserving its' classic quality. So, while it may be fun to brainstorm these ideas, know that it is highly unlikely any changes will ever be made to it.

The only thing i'd like to see about the grapple is the ability to grapple other's(that would scare the sniper's)

Totally agree. For those who like realistic physics you could always head over to www.jeffwofford.com and download his fantastic version of the ninjarope. The physics are great although somewhat lacking on the graphics. Its just a translocator with a funny blue cable thats attached to the beacon 8O but you can pull other players and its real fun online. :D I even made replaced the translocator with a custom mesh i made cept never got round to texturin it :(

I would like to shoot the rope and watch them hopefully fall to there deaths so I can enjoy the wanna be spider-men die. Its annoying when a duel server has grapple enable and the players are only interested in running.

Just a few ideas:

1) GRAPPLING HOOK MUST STAY ATTATCHED UNTIL THE PLAYER RELEASES IT!!!!!!!!!! or...

2)Grappling hook/rope can be shot and broken (this looks like a job for the CUTTER!)

3)When a grappling hook hits somebody, it should do little damage and pull the hit player towards the player who fired it. :twisted:

4)Grappling hook speed and length could be increased

If the grappling hook was made to have a timer, etc. it would take approximately 72.37845783465837465789326458736735% of the fun out of CUT. Most of the CUT players I know downloaded CUT only for the grappling hook, the grav vortex and the melee weps.

I would love for the grapple to be able to be cut. However the current method does not support it. In fact there is no real cable. The code traces a line from the hook to the player and draws in a cable. Some day we may look at a way to cut this. Maybe when we try to do a bendable version..then maybe we can figure a way to cut it...

There is a fix now to avoid the grapple in Duel games.

You can kick the grapple off. I know that much

But you can't cut it?

Yes you can kick the grapple off I've done it countless times and gotten many players to fall to there deaths, its so pleasing to see Spider-Man wanna bes fall to there doom.

Hmm jb - jack of all trades says no

but a guy named Kaboodles you believe?! LOL (love ya assass)

and that makes sense.. since as he said the grapple cable isn't really there, but the hook part is really there, so its really kickable

Hmmm...I don't recall ever saying anything like that...

Destroyable grappling hooks would be fun though, but It should take a good bit of damage to dislodge it.
