Ok, I'm ressurecting this tread cause I'm feeling kinda necromantic today...
Firstly:
Try this - CCTF with this mut: WeaponReplacerMut; and Replace ALL weapons with the TL
Yes... Melee CTF!!! It's not all that bad, you know... Hitting the running [or jumping and dodging] flag carrier is much easier than it looks. It's nailing the headshots which is hard... Anyways, that was the first thing.
Secondly:
I got a few balance ideas for Melee CTF (Which I shall hereafter dub MCTF

) and here they are:
1) Drain - just like the the mutant in the Mutant gametype, the Flag carrier continuously drains his health, but also becomes vampiric. He must continuously kill in order to replenish his health. Or, if he has no one to kill, his teammates can play "relay" with the flag

[Maybe an option can be given to determine how fast his health drains... this can control game intensity

]
2) Instagib CTF - already implemented, maybe can be akimboed with the Dual-wep mut to let the player carry a shield... [Shield gun with no attack? I'm trying to do this with Weaponstuff+Dual-wep muts...]
3) Flag carrier duel - If both teams get the enemy flags, the flag carriers are immediately whisked away to a small chamber where they duel it out. Winner leaves the chamber and loser... respawns. Winner is deposited where he was before being whisked away, but this time, he gets both the flags...
