Oh yea the code takes the total health splits it up:
VampEffect.HealthBoost = damage / MaxVamptrials;

Where maxvamptrials is the number of trails spawned (4 max and the more damage you cause the more trails that are created). So I dont think thats it. We also make sure we try to take the adjusted damage ammount as well (as when you play against the bot the damage that the bots do to you is related by skill).

Well, 1 for 1 sure sounds like too much to me. But more importantly (as I was saying before), it "feels" like too much to me as well.

It was mentioned that this was 'modeled' after other games and/or mods. There wasn't a vampire relic in the official ones from the bonus pack in UT, and I couldn't remember offhand playing with one before, so I had to go looking.

So far with googling, I have found 3 other mods with a vampire relic (or rune), and all 3 have a .5 to 1 ratio (.5 health given for each 1 pt of damage dealt), which sounds much more reasonable to me. Those were Creeper CTF for Quake, Runez for UT, and something called Half-Life OZ.

At least so far, it seems that .5 to 1 is the most common ratio, and I think it would be an improvement for us to use that as well.

What mods/games have a 1 to 1 ratio? Just out of curiosity?

Edit: Correction, something called Beryllium was one of the three I found so far, Creeper CTF I'm still looking for actual ratio.

In all honesty I find the relic of vamprism and regeneration to be a bit *underpowered* when I play with them: the vampric relic doesn't seem to recover that much health, only about a quarter, and the relic of regeneration either doesn't regenerate to a high enough health or too few points per second. I never last very long against someone packing one of the other relics, and had little hassle taking out someone else with them.

I've resorted to using the Relicz mutator in conjunction with CUT2 for it's relic of regeneration and vamprism for playing offline.

Actually (according to the readme), that mutator has a vampire relic that only does .33 to 1 ratio. And their health relic is set at the same power as ours.

So unless you're seeing a bug in one or the other, our vampire relic is currently 3 times more powerful than that one. (I've yet to find one as powerful as ours is set to now - most are .5 it seems)

Hmm... It could be that it's getting modified by the bot difficulty setting?

In any case, in my experiences I've found the relic to give a bit too much health when I'm using it. It doesn't seem to help anyone else out that much, so I figured it was just something about the way I was playing it... Either that or I dodge too much...

Meh... It couldn't hurt to think about modifying it. Let's see what the rest of the team says.
