Madfragger didn't read my post very carefully. Your entitled to your opinion. I code for a living too champ. I'm just saying he should have handed off the baton if he was that busy. I've been around Chaos since the inception too so I don't need any history lesson....

well it doesnt really matter now Q3 is old and ChaosUT2 is underway. i definately dont appreciate your 'tone' in your last post. and since other people were working on it..guess what? someone else has the code also! but it wouldnt help any right now though. perhaps you dont need a history lesson..but maybe you shouldn't talk to me like you know everything.

Easy one to fix...

For all this frustration on losing the code and Bashing of Major (who has not been here to defend himself ).

I haven't gotten one single offer to download the original Quake 3 code and start from scratch...

If you are all so pissed about the inactivity of the Mod then do something about it.

I will be more than happy to give the models and maps I have to somebody willing to give it a shot.

But I am code illiterate, I haven't got a clue on how to code a Mod.

If you can come up with a code base that looks promising then we can go from there.

I keep hearing people say " I can code " but not a single one of them has tried to do something about it.

It is not too late, ***** people are still playing Quake 1.

And you never know, it might help you out and help us all out if you have experience coding for a quake 3 mod when I need to find people for the next platform ( Quake 4 or Doom 3 ).

But I know a lot more of the story than the normal person.

Major had a lot of good reasons for not working on this ( job, etc... ) and he had nobody helping him either. I spent a few all nighters working on testing and coding, and let me tell you, he put in a lot of hours with no help getting it where it was. The code is 99.999 finished as it was. The code was finished as far as it could have gone. The hold up was the models, and nobody stepped up to help when we really needed it.

The only thing I have any problem with him at all on was that he didn't leave us a copy of the code. but he might not even know we don't have a copy...

Want to do something about it ? go get the code, start reading the tutorials, and get to work.

Otherwise stop crying over spilled milk and move out.

Good suggestion

I think it is time to move on. If your egos weren't getting in the way of your brains, you'd probably understand what I was saying. As far as my tone goes....tough bounce boys.

The only other person that I know was activly helping with the code was Lethal....

Maybe he has a copy or at least an old copy so it wouldn't have to be from total scratch.

There is a lot of material already done, and I have quite a few maps done already for Q3 Chaos.

Most of the code stuff looks like basic stuff that is on most of the tutorials i have seen on Quake 3. The only things I think would be hard would be proxies, and turrets, and we have most of those models already.

The rest of the things i saw were on the tutors.... Homers, Vortex etc...

I just wish I had the time to learn how to code C++, I haven't done anything codewise since QBasic and DOS way back in the day ( Oh ****, there I go giving away my age again ).

Sorry about the earlier venting, just getting tired of getting bashed about this when I am only a mapper, and run the web site. I would really like to still give this an honest shot, and
would welcome anybody with the time and dedication to see it through.

If any of you are interested, I am with you as much as I can help.

Hi Rimshot

Any chance I could get a copy of the Q3 Chaos maps that have been made and the models?

Maybe you could email them to me or even better put them up on a web site somewhere to d/l?

Thanks...

Get with Furrysound if you need anything, and are interested in trying this.

He has set up an FTP site and is collecting all Quake 3 Chaos related files.

If an experienced coder were to tackle this, there is a lot of stuff already there, including a lot of cfg, def, and text files explaining lots of stuff...

Good luck, will jump back in "both feet" if anybody gets anything promising going.
