Although if you could load one of each ammo type into the xbow and then fire all 5 in one shot (multi-arrow, multi-ammo)... 8O
whoa...... that would be cool.

"Changed type to Randomfire"

Then primary lets loose with a random arrow type and secondary loads all of them up..... now that's a hell of an idea

Pierced and burnt and poisoned and blown up ALL IN ONE SHOT!!! hehe now thats one feature that you guys should seriously look into

And frozen, if they add the Ice Arrow.

I don't suppose you guys could do a long bow like U4E had, with the arcing arrows etc.? Primary fire releases an arrow, they don't fly perfectly straight, you need to charge them etc. (hey since they aren't doing U4E for 2K3, why not pinch some ideas. )

Actually I pitched the Ice Arrow idea to them for U4E. What a shock, they dismissed it. I hope you guys use it. Not only for a "ha ha they used it and like it" kind of thing, but because I truly think it would be a great thing to have :)

Completely off topic (okay so this whole thread's gone OT but still) there's a way to circumvent needing the Gravity Vortex secondary fire. Fire a primary orb then kick it right away. If you miss you better start hauling ass in the other direction. If you hit though, it goes flying so you can get around needing the Vortex altfire for all but the longest distances. Please don't remove this, I much like that feature :)

I like the sound of that. I agree we should keep it in, it's clever.

I also like the Ice Arrow idea and the multi-ammo-arrow load... It's already balanced since you'd need every arrow type to use it, and that's not something you're likely to have all the time.

Actually, I like the idea of an ice arrow and possibly ice grenade more than an ice-beam. But then, a freezethrower would fit in with a flamethrower in terms of a yin/yang sort of utility gun. So maybe we could just have ice arrows as well as the freezethrower. Maybe even throw in ice grenades later on... Use the current flash grenade particle effect for it, and make the flash grenade explode in a puff of smoke and maybe a few bits of shrapnel instead.

I would also be in favor of giving the crossbow more realistic projectile physics, but I wouldn't want to get rid of the crossbow or replace it with a long bow. For one, the crossbow is a part of Chaos. It's traditional. You can't just take it out, but it's also a cool weapon and makes more sense in terms of the way it's used. A longbow wouldn't be able to fire as quickly or with as much power. The crossbow is better I think.

whoa, whoa, who said replacing the crossbow with the longbow? Why can't we have both? :)

Have the Crossbow and Longbow on rotation with each other or something......

there was a longbow in a test import of the melee stuff. Chances are it is NOT going to be in from what i can guess.

Yea it probably will NOT be in Chaos. I was working with another team to help develope the melee stuff and they had a bow...we have the xbow :)

any chance of it being released separately? I'd love to play with it.

Okay, couple things:

1. The crossbow does no more damage in the "charged windlass" mode than it does regular fire mode.

2. The RPB bullets do about half the damage of regular bullets.

I'm pretty sure this shouldn't be.

Also it seems my gravbelt and my change-ammo-type buttons broke. hey do nothing now. I reassign the buttons and they still don't work.

Sounds like something went screwy with your install.

As for the crossbow, I think its damage is range-dependent. The closer you are the more damage it does. The damage decreases over range. So, since the charged mode increases the range, it should also increase the effective damage. However, I didnt develop it and haven't tested that, so I can't say for sure.

Maybe one of the coders can answer that question.

from what i heard damage is speed dependant. Firing the wind up mode just increases the initial speed and then it decreases over time.

Hey Hemephosis!
Nemephosis wrote: 1. The crossbow does no more damage in the "charged windlass" mode than it does regular fire mode.
The arrows damage is based off speed. And arrows slow down during flight. The charging mode of the alt fire crossbow can fire the arrow up to x2 as fast (thus it should to x2 the damage). We can double check on that one...

2. The RPB bullets do about half the damage of regular bullets.
Almost correct. The RPB do a 45 on impact. And then create a small exposion during another 45 hp. THus the total damage is 90. However the momentum of the impact may push the player outside the radius so they only take the initial 45. We can look into that. Sorry.

Try doing this, remove the chaosUT.ini and ChaosUT.int files from your ut2k3/system dir. Use the ChaosUT.int from the zip. Did you check to see if the are in your user.ini file? They should show up like all other binds.

Thanks for the feedback!

jeditobe1 wrote: Also the "mutate madfragger" command will give you all the chaos weapons and their default ammo pickups. Type loaded after that and you will have 999 of all ammo for all weapons, both chaos and normal
actually once you have the desired weapon just use the "allammo" code to get 999 of all ammo types for each weapon you have.
