Actually there was a bug early on in development of melee that caused the player to wield the flag attached to the sword when they were carrying the flag in CTF and had the sword ready (at least I think that was it). So, the swings would all have the flag being swung around like the sword.
It's possible to make the flag into a melee weapon, but if I remember correctly, there was quite alot of negative feedback about doing that so we decided not to. Sorry, but it looks like this won't be a feature you'll be seeing in Chaos.
But don't worry, we have plans to implement lots of different kinds of melee weapons. Hopefully you'll each be able to find one that suits you.

Hmm, and the Mutant idea? You could call the Sword-carrier "The Chaotic One"

. The one who carries the sword for a specified time winns. But there should be a force to use this sword and not run away all the time. For exampe could the sword carrier loose health constantly. If he kills somebody he gaines health. Or the sword carrier dosn't have to hold the sword for a time, but has to do a specified amount of frags with the sword to win.

one question about the meelee....Could it be possible to have a combo system? Or a variation of the moves during combats... for exemple:
jump+ attack=circular attack
run+attack=front attack
doubble jump+attack=rolling attack
...
it could be fun too have some various attack with the same button fire and not only a variation with the first fire and the secound fire...

That's how it is. Well, I couldn't say if your examples were exactly what are in, since i'm only basing this answer on talks on ICQ with Joe, but yeah.

DJ more or less right. Again this is just a first pass stuff. As you play we are hoping for feedback to make it better. The roll is a bit hard to do as Epic's has some limiations built into their code.

hey everyone, i'm gamer119's roommate and he was showing off melee. i couldn't help thinking that you guys should think about making a spear or something. maybe a halberd? (a spear with a little axe at the top).

We have 8 melee weapons now. Thats a start. Our plan was to get this out ASAP. And then listen to feedback. If more weapons are needed...then more you will get

excellent! i've got a few more ideas too after this first release, if you'd like to hear them sometime.
