If you just popped in the forums, and haven't checked the news page, there has been a decent size news post.

Several new pics are in there as well. Including one of an excellent new static in progress from Neolith, a 'new-old' map in the works, and even laser guided rockets!

Check it out, and tell me if I mispelled anything! Or just let us know if something sounds interesting.

Gonna be soon.

I know for sure I will enjoy the laser guided rockets if they have good control :) ! It does sounds better then the Quake 2 homing rockets, as it soulds like it was too easy to escape, but I never played it. Weapons with three firing modes sonuds neat ;) . Not really sure what to say about the rest. It is a tie for what weapon model I like better, Sniper Rifle or Claw. Now if only I knew programming myself (read) .

Edit: What are the firing modes of the C.U.T.T.E.R. again?

Primary fire send out blades horizontaly (sp?), and they bounce all around like crazy, pretty much like the buzzsaw from Q2Chaos and the Ripper from UT. And of course it's coded for headshots. I've even taken my own head off more than a couple times from the blades bouncing back at me.

Alt fire flips the weapon 90 degrees, and fires the blades out vertically, and these blades will shatter on impact, sending shrapnel out in all directions.

Both methods are quite deadly.

I would but the site appears to be down.
Its not GameSpy, and its not PU. Looks like the box that houses the site is down or somthing.

OK, confused post, many questions, much fanboyism (sorry). You have been warned...

This 'advanced weapon option' button has me very intrigued... What, exactly are the limits of its power? [manaical laughter] Does it just affect AltFire, or both modes, or either? Is it separate from the changeammo and changewep keys? (I think I need a new mouse...3 buttons just won't CUT it anymore  )

RE: current AdvFire modes; What, exactly is the advantage of the basic sniper scope if the advanced mode is not limited in some way?
Other than that, everything else jus makes me wanna play more :D
Are the rocket guide lasers teamcoloured? Mine lasers too?

Suggestions; Do sniper bullets still ricochet? if yes, then a scope option to overlay their path might be useful... And an avanced vortex option to invert it and send players flying away hard and fast...I wanna laminate people to the walls dammit!

Right now we are still playing around with the possibilities of the Weapon option. It was created to help balance an open issue we had on how to handle two fire modes for the alt fire on the xbow. For the sniper we wanted to have more than the two options. We also used it to "enhance" epic's RL. However that is could be just the tip of the ice berg. We thought about using it to take controll of proxies, or turn on/off laser mines if you have the Claw2. Yes we also thought about having it switch the vortex from sucking to blowing (heheheh Space Balls movie). Some of these are good ideas but we did not want to hold up the first public version so they will be worked on in other ones...

I just wanted to say hello for once 8)
I've been following you guys for quite a while now, I first played ChaosUT about 3 years ago...I think :)
I really love the job you folks do, and all those screenshots just make me can't wait to play Evolution (user)
Actually, only the 'closing in' off ChaosUT:2 made me reinstall my UT2k3 lately (up)

See you on line soon! :proxy:

Hehehe.. "She's gone from suck to blow!"
Such a fantastic movie. If you don't own it, get it. 10$ for the DVD at Best Buy.

Hay! Welcome. Thanks for the kind words. And yeah, hope to see you on line.

Not even we fully understand this yet. Perhaps somewhat limited for this upcoming release, but after that.... only the shadow knows. (or possibly Spa)

Yes, it only affects AltFire. Yes, this is seperate from changeammo. And you bet, too many keybinds is something we are always concerned about. But it's still doable, IMO.

I am still adjusting to my keybind layout for this game and this version of the mod, but I don't think we've gotten out of hand yet. And some things are optional too, like spray painting and the 'hook up' key (you can get by with one grapple key if you want).

But yes, there are more keys to manage than standard UT2. And while this is always expected when playing a mod of course, to be honest, just how far you can go I don't really know the answer to. But I don't think we're there yet.

All good questions. Especially the scope, as I did not reallly expain that part well in the news post. Oops. The 'advanced' scope has a much less clear view when looking thru it. The normal one is clearer, brighter and easier to see more of what's going on out there.

Though it is also true that we are constantly thinking about these, and the 'advanced' scope is still undergoing some tweaking. We just got IR16 several days ago, and I do believe more changes to that are coming still in IR17. Work in Progress.

And there's talk about the team colored lasers going on right now. If it can be done well, these guys will do it.
