Hey! Firstly, the mod if f***ing awsome! Sorry, first time I posted so I needed to say that :P hehe.
The railgun weapon that can fire through walls is very nice :D However I was wondering if it would be possible to add a kind of thermovision scope onto it so we can see players though walls. Wud be helpful wit a weapon that fires thru them :P
C H A I N S A W  !!! I know it would be a bitch to model and **** but can you honestly say it wouldnt be worth it? Who here wouldn't use the chainsaw at all? At least for a gorey laugh! At least the firing modes would be easy :P fire mode 1: Kill!!! Fire mode 2: Kill some more!!!
Thanks for CUT2 again! The only mod I play non-stop :P You wasted my hard disk space! I downloaded all these other mods, then i installed ur first! I aint even touched the others ones!!!

Oops!

Thanks for the feedback and glad you liked it. However we may not bring back that mod to the ERDW due to the number of issue as discuss in the other thread. Chainsaw? Don't know but it shure sounds Chaotic :)

That could work (the old Chaos for Quake 2 had it), but won't we have three melee weapons then? Sword, Axe and Chainsaw, how can they also be made different? At least you would have more then one way to enter melee combat and kil someone. What if one weapon beats another weapon and gets beated by the other one? Like how paper beats rock and blah blah. Then again, I'm not sure if that would be a good idea because people would keep changing weapons back and forth to beat the other guy and could ruin the whole melee combat system.

Maybe it is just me, but there is no real "No, Chaos don't need one" option, to me the 2nd option sounds more like a insult (I voted yes [why is little girl {or girl at all} such a common insult word? I'm male BTW] ).

Well you guys apparently want a proper melee system right? Sword and axe could differ in that sword can be used for blocking, swings faster and has 2 edges, but does less damage compared to the slower-swinging axe that lacks the ability to block. Not sure about a chainsaw though.

Psst... you can see through walls with the new sniper's scope...you just cant do it and fire the ERDW at the same time =)

What about having players start with one randomly chosen melee weapon.

From what I understand about the melee system, it appears that every melee weapon will handle differently. Basically, there will probably be a different set of moves for each one. What I'm imagining here is something similar to the game Rune, if any of you remember that. In Rune, all the weapons were melee weapons and there was a detailed 3rd person combat system (a first for the FPS genre, I believe). There were 3 classes of weapons: swords, axes, and maces. Each class had a different set of moves, and each weapon would modify these moves in some way. Although I doubt Chaos will have as many different melee weapons as Rune had (I think there were something like 15 different weapons), it should have an equivalently detailed melee combat system.

So, rather than giving each weapon arbitrary strengths and weaknesses, I think the differences will come in the actual style of combat that can be achieved with them. Which weapon you prefer to use will be based more on your playing/fighting style than on which one's stronger or hits faster.

Trees in the game are for grappling and sniping, not for chopping down...

 what i meant was that a chainsaw can do a lot more than an axe/sword when it comes to cuttin stuff. if you can chop down a tree in seconds with a chainsaw , think of what you could do to a human/robot/alien/your friend?

but for the record I'd rather have a sword.

hmm...lumberjack gametype...maybe...
