Grapple

I've been playing a bit lately with the grapple turned on for bots and it makes the game more interesting (although they are definitely a tad stoopid when using it), but this got me wondering - where are all the grapple mods???
In q2 you couldn't turn around without tripping over someones grapple, but as far as I can remember, in UT1/UT2K3 this is the only mod that has a grapple - what's the deal???
The reason I'm bringing this up is that I thought it would be nice if SuperBots added in code for the grapple, but I can't really see that happening for just a single mod.
On the plus side, the grapple is great - made my first (accidental) kill with it a few days ago (hit the grapple key by accident - oops, sorry about that

). A few maps I deliberately jump off the map, knowing that I can grapple the ledge I left, swing down to the ground and keep fighting

Well I know of two other grapples you could google for - Seismic CTF has one, and Ninja Rope is a grapple mute.

hmm - in that case, maybe Mysterial(?) would be interested in updating superbots for the grapple?

the problem is that each of the grapples are different i think.

ummm...i saw the bots use the grapple today for the first time , and i feel i am emotionally scarred for life

. WHY DOES THE GRAPPLE EXTEND FROM THE CROTCH!!?? it could've been a nice safe , SANE , place like the arm , but the CROTCH !!!. and also , when the grapple line clips through the body , it extends out the back of the player's a**. this may have some comical value , but the image of a metal rod protruding from someones rectum , is just not right in my book...just not right at all. also , you can see right thru the grapple line to the interior. it looks odd.hey , if you could make the grapple line solid , you could allow people to set up , temporary grapple line roadblocks. mebbe borrow some code from ninja rope to get grapple to bend round curves...

I can't save myself with the grapple hook when falling as well as I could in UT. On most maps, you die the second you fall from the game area (CTF-Face3), while in UT you would not die right away and could save yourself. This has nothing to do with the mutator's problems as it's the map's killzone that does that, but I'm just pointing that out, but however on some maps you can fall for a little bit before dieing.

CTF-Face3 has become somewhat notorious for its killzone =)

I've had it on some maps where I've fallen off the edge, had enough health/armor to fall right through the killzone, tried to grapple back up and got killed by the killzone going the wrong way through it - most annoying when i thought i'd escaped death

We set up the grapple to be at 1/2 of the hieght of the model...which comes to their....uh yea. I don't know what it extends to the back..maybe its using the end of their collison cylnder? Not sure.....

You are using an emitter for the cable, right?
Then I can explain you why it extends to the back, but I thought you know it...

Are you sure it was not a pain zone with damage set over 100 or something? A killzone will kill you no matter what, I tryed, god mode, ghost mode and I still die. I was able to survive in a pain zone for awhile with the RPG Mutator with very high stats.

I've only had it happen once or twice, and only on q3-dm-17 - maybe it is a pain zone, but since I'm not a mapper I don't know

I read about the ninja rope, and there was another one I was looking at. I love the swing on the ChaosUT2 one, but it would be nice if it wrapped around objects. I've noticed when hit it during a fall or low gravity I will frequently swing completely around the platform I hit with the grapple.
