Custom Spray Paint?

Ya I'm the newbie asking a question I'm sure has been asked before, just couldn't find it :?
But would it be possible to add a feature which allows you to add your own Custom Spray paints? It should be doable, but I'm not a coder so i wouldn't know for sure. Even if only The one player could see it it would still be Fun!

Btw, Chaos is THE best mod yet! I love it!

Actualy, Yes there is. here's how.

1. save your image with alpha channel in targa format. ( note image size must be in powers of 2. EG: 256 x 256, 128 x 256)
2. email it to R. Flagg.
3. wait till the next Chaos Evolution Release. :)

3 easy steps to becomming a small part of the Chaos ;)

I think I recall we had to remove a Bob Barker spraypaint due to possible copyright issues. So, I would say try to keep such things out of your spraypaints. But you can put your player name in it I believe. I'm not sure what the rule is on profanity, I seem to recall that it was said we're aiming for a PG-rated sort of thing, but then again, there's plenty of profanity in UT2003 itself. So, dunno. I'll let one of the bigwigs answer that.

An alpha channel is part of an image that determines its transparency. In photoshop (which i use for my images) you can go to the channels (which are normally rgb, red green and blue) and click "Add new channel" and it will add an alpha channel.

Alpha channels are greyscale, with black being fully transparent and white being fully opaque (viewable). What you do is make all the empty space in the image black in the alpha channel, and all the content is white.

Guys, what DemonHunter was asking is to make a user settable spray paint that does not have to be in the graffiti package so anyone can do a spray paint, connect to a server and blamo show it off :)

DemonHunter,
not yet but we want to get there.

I dont use psp.. but look for something that is labelled "Channels" and see if you can add a new one. Chances are it will be an alpha channel.

Anyone else here that uses PSP that can help out?

I use PSP7 and it took me a while to figure out alpha channels but I did, and here's how to do it:

First, make a new image with the background set to transparent. Image size should be 128x128, 256x256, 512x512, or 1024x1024 for best results. Other sizes are ok, like 128x256, or 512x256.

Then, draw your spraypaint (or paste one in from somewhere else as a transparent selection). You may also want to just do some scribble here instead so you can test out the following procedure for yourself before trying to do it with your "real" spraypaint.

When you're done making the image, to get the alpha channel, go to masks>new>from image...

A dialog box appears. Make sure Source Window says "This Window" and click "Source opacity" in the box. Then click ok

Next, go to Masks>Save to Alpha Channel...

For available alpha channels it will say "New Channel". As long as that's highlighted, click ok.

Type in a name for the alpha channel if you want and click ok.

Now your image has an alpha channel which will perfectly match the transparency of the original image. Save the image as a targa file, and send it in!

Not too complicated, hopefully.

Just registered, I am no longer a lurker!
In my 5.5 Photoshop, I go to the channels tab, click new, and then using white and black, (black is opaque) paint on the aplha channel.

So I send my logo to Rflagg?
