Problems with umod._file! Please help!

Ok, this not an CUT specific topic but I think here I'll get greater support!
I tried to install "ArenaMatch110" - umod. -file but then the program told
me following:
"ArenaMatch110 requires UnrealTournament to be installed in the folder
first. Please locate the existing folder for UnrealTournament and install
or exit it"
Can anyone tell me what this piece of sh*t is?
Damn, I wann play ArenaMatch now!
By the way: R-Flagg's suggestion to download StuffSwapper works, but
if I shoot with the Chaos Sniper RPB Rifle at my enemy it generates
less damage (normally the enemy will instantly killed, but here it does
not work)

When you run the umod, you need to specify the Unreal Tournament directory. Such an example would be C:\UnrealTournament It depends on where you have UT installed.

Bruce,
sorry for you issues. Usally this means that the UMOD is requiring a certian version of UT to be installed. This normally is held in a file called....crap at work now and cant remember. I will post the answer when I get home unless someone beats me to it frist. Usally re-installing UT fixes but thats a lot of things. Do they have a non umod version? You also can download a number of tools that will unpack the umod for you. This means you have to install it by hand. But it does work.

Jb, I don't think its the version problem, I think it just that he left the install directory field blank.

NO! I've done everything right!
When I start the umod-installation program, there is a line where the
folder directory is definied - and it IS definied - whether I want or not.
And if I start the program , the line automatically shows me the UT folder
adress, but if it's not shown in the line (that means the line is empty) -
you'll hav to type manually the UT directory.....MANUALLY
the installation completes succesfully - but in my case the line is NOT
EMPTY and the UT folder adress is everytime shown, but the worst:
I cannot change it: I cleared the line and typed manually and it failed
because the line wasn't automatically empty!
And a non-UMOD version I haven't found - **** that!!!
I'm helpless!!!

Bruce,
the file is called manifest.ini
it contains all of the install info and something here is missing which is causing the error. I can post mine but its big and there is a good chance I will have different stuff installed. Two options, install UT to a temp dir and copy over the manifest.ini note a good way. Or two give us the link, one of us can download it, extract it, the upload in zip format.

Here's the web adress:
www.koehler-homepage.de/Wormbo
Goto "Downloads"
and then somewhere you'll find "ArenaMatch"
Please reply if you solved the problem
Good Luck and thank you for your support!

Try these 2 fixes; ( cut from CUT Manual )
The second problem, and this one comes up a LOT more often, is that sometimes when you double click to run the .UMOD, windows comes up with a prompt asking you to tell it which program you want to use to run it. This is a common problem with UT, and is NOT created by Chaos. But if this happens, please go to this location [
http://www.planetunreal.com/mutation/FAQ/ ]and click on the question that says "I double-click the .umod, and I just get the file association dialog box..." and follow the instructions contained in that section.
The third problem comes up a little less often and is also encountered when trying to install the .UMOD. This time the .UMOD runs as expected, but after telling it where to install, it comes up with a prompt telling you that v413 of UT is required to install ChaosUT. This problem can usually be fixed by opening the manifest.ini and looking for a section called [Unreal Tournament]. At the bottom of that section you'll see the version number that UT thinks is installed. Change that to say "Version=XXX", XXX being whatever version you are running, ( e.g. 436 for v436 ) and then try re-installing Chaos.
If those don't help, well, you're screwed dude. Find something else to play.

r_flagg, this has nothing to do with chaos.
the same problem with other mods also occured before I installed CUT.
But I'll try your suggestions.

in my manifest.ini there's nothing written about [Unreal Tournament]!
Note: Sometimes if I download mutators, there's a manifest.ini file
included - that means I've to copy the new manifest.ini file to
the system folder of Unreal Tournament - so, I think that's the
reason why the manifest.ini has changed - because of the newer
one which contains some of the information for the mutator.
Shall I write this into the file ? :
[Unreal Tournament]
Version=XXX
My suggestion

MY suggestion is :
One of you guys download the same mutator, install it and send me
the files in zip. format (that means you'll have to extract the umod to
get the files) - this is the same suggestion like the from jb.

"r_flagg, this has nothing to do with chaos."
Neither do those fixes. They are in the CUT manual simply to be helpful, as they are common UT problems.
"in my manifest.ini there's nothing written about [Unreal Tournament]! "
Then that's a problem. Probably The problem.
"Shall I write this into the file ?"
Dunno, s'pose you could try.
"One of you guys download the same mutator"
Sorry, not me. Perhaps someone else is willing. Too many buggy muts out there, not gonna risk another install. Good luck.
* There are times when a clean install is all that will help. I've done it more times than I can count. My suggestion, don't trust every mod/mut maker. Sometims these people will bork your game.
** And, if no pure zip install is provided, I'd suggest asking the author to release one, instead of asking other people to install a mod/mut they don't want or need.

Mass, thank you for your help! But it's ok! I don't want to install all mods again, configure UT after reinstalling UT. Thank you! But Jb asked if I can
give him the web adress of the umod.-file. I gave it in a reply - you should
see it too, don't you? He said he can download and extract the umod.-file
and send me the extracted files (because I didn't find a non-umod version
of "ArenaMatch". Please Ask him if he still wants to do that.
Thanks again!

You said you were having trouble with other mods as well... reinstalling UT will fix those problems. I don't think you'll have to reinstall all your mods, but you should ask R.Flagg for that answer.
