Chaos + Excessive + Invasion

I've managed to add some Chaos weapons into the Excessive mod in Invasion. I've also used another mod to increase the firing rate for Chaos weapons to create the Excessive effect. All the weapons seem to work fine, but the Vortex still kills teammates. In case you've never tried Excessive, it is a mod to increase all weapon firing rate and cause no self demage and no demage to all human in Invasion mode.
The Vortex seems to be running as a seperate script to kill everything in sight. Any way to make that configurable in the INI file or something so that it doesn't kill anyone but the Monsters?
In case you want to try it out and see, the server is at 209.208.180.138

Yes, we know the vortex has no loyalty in invasion

LOL. People seem to adapt to it though. Everytime we hear "ding ding", you'll see everyone stops what they were doing and all TL away. It's really funny to watch.
But every once in a while some newbie comes to the server and just fire away. Most of our games ended because majority of the players were killed by the vortex. LOL.

I think the vortex damage class has bSuperWeapon set to ture and when that is on, it automatic damages teammates even if Friendly Fire is off. If you knew the name of the Vortex Damage type, you could set it off in the console from ingame. It would be "set ChaosUT.name bSuperWeapon false" with name being whatever the class name is for the vortex damage type. Another thing about the vortex, how powerful is that thing? I used WeaponStuff (right name?) and turned the damage down to %1 and it still kills right away

I've played with all settings in WeaponStuff and it has no effect on the vortex at all.
Since it would kill the players anyway, I've changed the demage to 1000%

but it had no effect.
P.S. I tried to change the demage to stronger because there are a LOT of times that the vortex doesn't kill the big monsters at all. The just got pull around and lived.

I think flying monsters are immune to the vortex. At least that's what it looks like in my experience. I've tossed votexes next to gasbags and mantas and they just ignore it, and keep coming. The only time it gets them is when they stupidly fly into the vortex, but it seems that they don't get pulled in like they should. Most of the ground-based monsters get sucked in though.
I've also noticed that monsters don't get arrows and cutter blades stuck into them like players.

Actually, everything gets pull in. There are just less pulling effect on the flying monsters since they still can "try" to fly away.
The major problem is that most of them don't get kill even they got pull into it. Come to our server and try it out. Make sure you don't get suck in or get other players (too) angry though.

Wes,
hows it going good sir? Seen you post on the mod mailing list but I hardly ever reply. Wormbo did the vortex for us and hardcoded so that every one / thing takes damage. We may or may not be able to change that. Not sure how much of an issue it is.....Maybe if you want I can pass you the code so in your mut you can make another grav vortex but have this one more team friendly???? Just an idea good sir.
ShadowStar,
we changed the vortex at the last moment in the PR1.02 (i think it was in IR4) to allow flying stuff to be sucked it. Wormbo had the flying stuff commited out. I removed those commets so but left a disclamier there. So far no one has reported anything weird with flying objects and vortexes. Lets hope it stays that way
Arrows? Mhmmmm we are probably checking for xpawns then adding them to only xpawns. But monsters are not xpawns so..... Let me add that to Gasmans todo list

Oh yes, the fact that the vortex kills everyone, even teammates, is no accident. That was quite intentional. Watch where you throw it.
And I forget at the moment, but I believe there was a reason Wormbo did that with the flying guys, I'll have to refresh my memory on that though.
As far as the vortex and Invasion though, I kinda let others deal with that mainly in testing. Not my favorite game type.

Whatever they wanted it to do with the monsters was fine with me.

I'm very well. Thank you. I'm having a lot of fun with the Chaos mod.
Having the code would be great. I would like to see if I can just make it a standalone weapon mod for the Invasion. Could you send it to:
wes @ myunreal dot com
Thanks.
P.S. Once I got it done, obviously, with your permission, I would like to share the mod to everyone to use also.

I've got the perfect solution to the vortex sucking up teammates thing:
We need to add a new voice bind: "Vortex in the hole!" heheh...
Maybe have a setting on the config that makes you automatically yell it out whenever you toss a vortex in team games, and it has a text line that shows your location. This, combined with the sound of the "tink, tink" should give your buddies enough warning to get away.
Of course, at the local conventions, I can just yell out, "Ok, I'm gonna toss a vortex, so take cover!" and then get promptly sucked into my vortex as everyone else hides. Well, a voice bind won't change that, but I think it would still be useful...

Hehe, people in our server already have that key binded. LOL.

update:
Arrows and blades can not stick into Monsters. Why? Monsters paws are not using the skeleton mesh system. We look for a bone to attach these effects too so with no bones nothing to attach it to...

I certainly hope not.

Can you make the Vortex Invasion friendly then? Whatever works. As long as it doesn't kill human. Just like to use all weapons including Vortex in Invasion.
