i will soon be releasing my new melee mappack for chaosut2
it will have about 3-6 maps.
they will all be a little small and will have a design that will encourage close combat in certain areas.
any suggestion or prefrences?(do i need permision?)
maps so far: STATUS:
Duel-Gravatonic in progress
it is a open areana will a med-large section in midlle with about half gravity and about 1/2 floor friction. it is mainly level except the gravity pit.
Duel-Power Core in progress
this is a circular map with a heal pod in middle and a raised platform on its sides
Duel-Absolute Done
this map is for the hardcore melee fans out there its very small and will foorce almost constant combat. this was the map i trained myself for melee combat with.
also i would like to hear what kind of map desighns you users would like.
just ell me the layout and items u want in them. nothing to complicated tho! i am a pretty good maper but i suck with coding! so tell me what you think and ill post some screen shots later....
oh and if any expierienced mapers out there, is there a way to have a monster spawn by using the trigger actor? thanx.
oh and btw i dDID do the melee actor thing! so u can use melee weapons in it......

You don't need permission to make a Duel map... Including the Actor is important, which you've done.
Be sure to let us know when its ready. Post here if you need help, ideas, etc... What you've listed sounds good so far.

It works but its has some issues so please wait till we release our DM version with Melee. Coming soon to a PC near you.
Also I will try your maps tonight. I did not get a chance to look at them yet. Finally can you double check the Duel Mapping Guideline to ensure they have all of the "stuff" needed to support Duel. Again thanks for the effort!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok played the power core map. Lots of potenial for this design. need to add some more statics and other stuff you might find in a power core. Other than that, keep up the good work!!

Blinking Lights.
Blinking Lights are always good in a generator style environment... Just lots of blinking lights... heh

I just tried Power core beta, and noticed pretty serious HOM effect when my character was in the center 'heal pool' and my camera got right up next to the effects you have there.
Also did not notice any healing going on, but maybe I did not stand long enough, will try again later.
These type maps are not my personal favorite, but some folks seem to like them. It's similar to Ancient Decree in that it's only one circular kinda room, with nowhere to go. Some dig this, while I prefer more 'stuff' to move about on, as in Arena, or Internus. Just junk to dodge behind and flip off of and so forth.
And for mappers choice I'd recommend not using the GL for this map.
Thanks Very much for making Duel maps. I'll keep trying more of yours and some that others have posted as well.

I have to agree there. Duel needs some interesting stuff, to move through/on. Varied floors, maybe an odd box or two lying on the ground, all good.
You might want to try having parts of the floor be lowered grating with visible pipes/electronics beneath, and have some shallow sloped parts to the floor. Also, you could try putting in some raised walkways around the edges or some raised/lowered areas... Dunno really. As always, it's the mapper who knows best how to improve his map. Good luck with it though. This is a nice map which has potential.

actualy the mapper can only create what HE wants and hope/assume that other people like it. it is actualy very critical in my opinion to have others comment on the map.
the visual was on purpose: people would just stay there to heal if they COULD see correctly.
my next maps will have a few more... features... and so on.
but I have suffered a rather large setback: my computer got fried by lightning and i need a new one. (im on a friends now)
should be here around friday so...
(btw you should bacvkup your fav stuff.

my map Beta's mut&mods mine are ALL GONE! NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!)
