Two reasons I made this thread.
A. To show Highlander that you can do anything with anime pictures.
B. To discuss anime and manga.

Explanations:
Anime-Japanese for "Animation". Smooth and fluid animated movies and episodes.
Manga-Japanese "comics". Drawn in same way as anime, but in black and white and none moving pictures. Most contain hentai.
Hentai-Japanese for "pervert". Example: Hentai websites contain porn.

i dont understand what is so great about anime and manga. its just a bunch of pictures of skinny asian people. if i want cartoons i just watch spongebob or something. i personally greatly dislike anime. from what i see, most anime fans tend to be fat and hairy people like the comic book guy on the simpsons. notice i emphasized most.

Ok , I got a little out of hand there , but there are a lot of seriously hardcore anime fans out there , and really shouldnt be bringing up such stereotypes in a thread that is obviously made by someone who wants to talk about anime , and not trash it.
If you want to dis anime , fine , just don't do it anywhere I can read it

Pepito's Reccomended Anime's!!!

-#1 Cowboy bebop.
The greatest anime of all time , Period. If you didnt catch this during the 12 months it was on Adult swim cartoon network , I seriously suggest renting it , Or better yet , purchasing it on E-Bay. Cowboy bebop is A Futuristic bountyhunter Crime drama , with the Most enjoyable , personable , well thought out characters in the History of Anime ( IMO )

-#2 Trigun.
Another Great anime that Cartoon network had the Smarts to pick up. Its a futuristic western with an intriguing plot , and a main character with more emotional scars than humanly possible. Although , we all know that Wolfwood's the one everbody really likes best.

-#3 FLCL ( Fooly Cooly )
The final Veteran of cartoon network that I feel is worth mention. FLCL is a Masterpiece from Gainax(Makers of NGE , Mahoromatic: autpmatic Maiden , And His and her circumstances , to name a few) At only 6 episodes , FLCL is definately NOT the longest anime ever made , but It conveys powerful emotion , witha grippingly insane storyline , crazy-good humor , and some of the best animation I've Ever seen

-#4 Excel Saga
The most Crackpot , Laugh out loud , crazy anime You will ever have seen. Excel saga follows the exploits of Excel Excel and Agent Hyatt , in their Many attempts at conquest over F-City in the Name of their beloved Leader , Ilpalazzo. The Show Parodies hundreds of other anime's and Tv Genre's/shows , although , even the most experienced of pallates wont be able to recognize all the references.

-#5 Neon Genesis: Evangelion. ( NGE )
I'f you've seen any of the Gundam series ( except SD gundam) you will be no stranger to giant robot anime , however , You will b e completely Unprepared for the glory and beauty that is Evangelion. In a Violent , Giant robot anime that makes the gundam series look like old mickey mouse reruns , Evangelion Is a Brilliant Mixture of humor , Amazing Mecha combat , and Grippingly serious Emotional drama. Just stay away from the Last two episodes and the two movies. theyre a major letdown/confusion fest.

-#6 Mahoromatic : Automatic Maiden ( Features Large quantities of Nudity , but overall ,maintains a Wholesome , family friendly Storyline, Definately not Hentai , although it appears it at first Glance )
The story follows Mahoro , who , Being a retired combat android and a veteran of an unseen war with alien invaders , Just wants to live out the rest of her days in peace . But in typical anime fashion , Combat maid action and good humor soon follows.

Sorry , my hands are gettin tired , so I kinda flaked on that last description , I'll prolly come back later and add to that list , I know there
are 5 or 6 more that I'm neglecting to mention.

I used to be very anti-anime. So much so, that because of one poorly placed comment an anime club here in the midwest (not gonna give any more detail) burned me in effigy. That changed though when I got to college. My room mate this year is an anime enthusiast, and looking around my room I see titles such as Evangelion, Outlaw Star, and some other DVDs in Japanese or some other Asian characters. When he and his anime club buddies would watch their movies and shows I had nothing better to do (aside from testing Chaos) and started to follow them myself. I actually really got into NGE, an even with the warning on the last 2 episodes I watched the movie. As fast as this taste for anime had developed, so it disappeared. At this point I neither like nor dislike anime.

I never said anything about Racists . but If it will get you to stop dissin anime , go with it.

Also IMO speed racer suxorz. I never said I liked ALL anime , there are several Horrible ones that somehow managed to climb up from the annals of mediocrity into Popularity. Such as Pokemon , DBZ , and Yu-gi-oh , to name a few.

I have nothing personal against you Elpollo , unless you decide to trash anime.

anyway , I've seen it and its an old Black and white Giant robo looking Anime , but I forgot what it was called. It was somwhat simmilar to the old mickey mouse Cartoons , and the art style reminded me of Metropolis.

Also , If what you were asking was whats the deal with the Art style of anime , from what I know (secondhand knowledge mind you) the whole Big eyes thing came from some japanese Animators trying to spoof us Big eyed americans.
