More restricted movement in Duel

Duel gameplay would benefit from slower movement, especially for strafes and crouch jumps. This would reduce the prevalence of "dancing" around with heavy weapons and put more significance in player strategy.

Hit the local gym... build some muscles... then you can dance with the hammer :D

Let me see if I understand, you want to have the gamespeed set to say 0.8?

I've found that a speed of about .75 works well with Duel.

two sets of attack movement keys
one control the strafing backwards and forwards, (WASD) the other controls attacks (keypad)

would have worked great if you didint have hte other ont he mouse for aiming ;) oops...

anwyay.. slwoer momvent.. not sure.. but at least the side dodges are almost a lil too fast, but thats good once you get proficient.

I don't know about the movement speeds, but what stargazer says about the dodging. Shouldn't that be removed completly? Doesn't really suit the dueling IMO. Or maybe only remove it with melee dueling. Don't know, just thinking out loud. :)

hmmm then again maybe dodges could be disabled for heavy weapons but are enabled for light ones or something.

The movement is fast, but not uncontrollable. I like the rapid movement, now that I've gotten used to it. And, through years of Kendo and Fencing, I've realized that the attack range with many swords is WAY longer than people think. Such lunges and advances are far more possible than most think.

Added the incredible mobility of 2k3 in general, and the movement makes sense. I think the slow attack movements of the heavier weapons is more than enough penelty. As a dagger fighter in Duel, I think the faster footspeed or dodges of "lighter" weapons would make them unusable.

I thought movement was too fast as well, then I got skilled :) Seriously though, its not too bad once you get used to it and learn how to aim and time your attacks properly, thats the challenge of the game. The same could easily be said about any fast paced video game.

Personally , I feel that There should be No limiting on Movement for Duel. The goal of chaos is to Add to the UT2003 experience "Whithout" taking away from it. Although Limiting movements is a bit more realistic. I feel that it just doesnt fit with the chaos way of doing things.

WOW i cant believe what im reading. To fast? I guess for me it cant be fast enough. I want to be able to attack twice as fast as i can now. Then i want to be able to do Combos. Like in Killer Instinct, Or MK2 and 3. Oh yea, then id like to see fatalitys. That would be awesom. LOL

It really stuns me that you guys want to slow down the game. Try getting your Fav server admin to turn down the game speed.

Hey it's your mod, you decide. It's simple, if you do not want to slow it down then don't. Then everyone else just got to adjust. The only thing that i think doesn't really suit is the dodging part in melee. I've never seen people dodge in melee fighting, only parying. Just my opinion.
