Turrets and stuff

First off, I'd like to congratulate the team on all of their hard work. I have been a huge fan of Chaos ever since spending many an evening playing the ChaosDM mod for Quake2 in Warehouse. And now, Chaos is one of the major reasons I have kept UT2K3 around still. Great job guys. (you too, beta testers.)

Anyhoo, on to business. Please tell me that turrets can be used in INV. or even DOC. or, maybe if there can be the option to do this..

As much as I hate to add any sort of non-melee super-weapon to something that deals with mainly with melee combat, I think it could work and be cool.

Imagine something like in Starship Troopers. The idea of being able to dispatch the early attackers easily only to find that you are shooting yourself in the foot (no pun intended,) once the main horde shows up. I also am not familiar with how DOC is intended to work..

I mostly bring this up after watching Aliens: Director's Cut. with the auto turrets fending off hordes of aliens in the hallways, and thought that it'd be cool to have to manage the turret ammo levels as well as fend off all sorts of beasties..

Any reason that this can't work?? Any other ideas?

Turrets are back... they work in INV/DM/CTF/etc.. but not in DOC atm.. DOC is still on the development table, we've talked about different superweapon ideas, they just haven't been implemented yet.

Thanks for the kind words, good to have a long time chaos fan stopping in :D

Actually we may have a sort of spawnable monster that is allied to the players in DoC... Dunno... We have something similar on the table for CTF...

about the spawnable monster thing?are you thinking of making it to have a duration?i have seen people making armies in UT2003RPG,how to get past 50 skaarj guarding the flag while at slideshow speed :?

Chaos != spam... in other words, we try our best to create 'items' that aren't spammy...

like the napalm grenades.. and poison grenades, and flash grenades... :D

however we do have weapons that work on spammage. The cutter is one example what-with its Bouncing blades. and our favorite weapon , the claw2 in proxymode is usually a spam and run weapon.
