Shadow, we've always been cool with that, Jb even encourages content creators to post in the public section from time to time.
The thing is though, we just have to remember not to starve your PR department (

HI! hehe ) I'm sure you've noticed how often over last couple weeks I asked in our dev sections for news pics. If not for news on our site, then there is often chances for PR thru 'exclusives' being mailed to news sites. There's interviews, etc.
So sure, the Team has always allowed members to show off stuff they are proud of, after all, it's your work, and it's nice and healthy to want to show it off. But work with me as well please, so that I can do my part.
My personal suggestion is that if the pic in question is a '1st showing' of a new item, or an extremely cool look at a newly updated item, it should go thru me first, before any such public posting.
And it's best of course, IMO, not to post anything that has not yet been confirmed as making the cut, and going in the mod.
And please, be picky. Jb gave me 10 pics or so recently, and I used 3. Why? Well, just for one example, there was a shot that had the lights in the background, shining right thru the monster model. (just one of those thigns we deal with in this game) It happens a lot in game, we all know that, but I would not choose to use that pic to show off a new model. IMO, take the shot again, and lose the lights coming thru the model. It's usually best to try and make the item in question, the focus of the pic. You'd be surprised how many pics I get, that it's difficult to see what we're pimping.
Taking pics for promoting the mod can be seen as trivial, or as quite serious. After all, they're only around for a bit, and eventually drift back to page 2 of forums, or web site. But then again, pics speak a thousand words, and gamers these days have a thousand choices. And it's also true, that some BETA pics I have posted over the years/months, in various places, do in fact find their way around the net, and end up staying forever, as "the" pic on some download page or something. And that's not so good. There are pages out there highlighting our xbow before it had a skin, for example. Ouch.
And of course the Golden Rule. We do not use other people's work to promote our mod. No custom skins, maps or models. Rare exceptions are made (I recently used a non-Chaos skin, but it was made by Kirin), but generaly we do not.

You would not believe! This post, for example, is nothing compared to what those guys suffer thru in dev sections. And if you wanna talk all of Chaos, not just CUT2.....whew! Add the manuals I've written, plus my old unused personal site for CUT, news postings, interviews, IRC chats, in-game lessons to new players....truth is I've already written more than enough for a book, probably many times over.
