Melee Onslaught?

Now, I don't mean Melee ONLY, but melee + all the other chaos weapons & vehicles.

I REALLY want to be able to surf by someone on a hoverboard hooked to the back of a manta and decapitate someone with my sword!


Also, pouncing on the hood of a hellbender and stabbing the driver would be very gratifying. :D


The reason I bring this up is I remember a discussion awhile back where the devs said that Melee weapons only work in gametypes where the chaos team has designated them to work. So in other words the only way to see weapons in Onslaught would be for the chaos team to make a Melee Onslaught mode.


So how about it devs, a Melee Onslaught mode?

If I had the equipment then I would work on a rapier that would be compatable in all gametypes. would require 1-3 years, though. maybe even 5 years, I don't know!

Wouldn't it be easier to just put the melee weapons into the weapon database so that we could have war hammer arenas and stuff?

And I think the Arena mutator that came with UT needs work. It should work like the Invasion mutator where you can choose what monsters you want to spawn into the game. Instead of having only one weapon to choose, you can select which weapons will or will not spawn into the game.

well theres been a bit of pressure from the community for an official weapon switcher, but besides that:

Melee weapons require a special set of animations (as well as the weapons and code themselves) to be introduced, and this cannot be done at the weapon level. In coding terms, it should not even be done at the mutator level, but at the gametype level. Thus, unless you had a Chaos gametype, the mutator wouldnt work anyways.

Right, that's exactly what I was saying, have a Melee version of Onslaught and maybe even of ALL of the gametypes to appease those who want them there.

I at least want to be able to use melee weapons in onlsaught and assault mode! :D


But now that I think about it, melee domination and melee mutant might be fun too. :)


So how about it? Chaos versions of all the major gametypes? Pwease?

we've already gotten melee deathmatch and CTF in , given ONS's popularity , I dont think we have a choice to leave that out of the mix. However there are no guarantees regarding the more obscure gametypes such as Mutant and Last man standing.

didnt realise it was that much work actually,

i must say i never really play last man standing myself.. though used to in UT a lot. or the monster version either fort hat matter,

but haveing mellee available in all gametypes is really i big wish on my part.

Well... Last Man Standing and Mutant are simply tweaked versions of standard Deathmatch.

Wasn't there a SwordArena Mutator a while back on one of the older versions of Chaos?

Assault would pwn with melee, but it dont look too good runnin through AS-robotfactory with a sword.

Theres' a word for it, but ehh anyway...

Found one thing tho: Use the MUG to freeze the guy, then pull out your hammer and smash em to bits...

Assault with melee. Mmmmmm...

As for the problem with turrets and stuff, you could just replace the ion cannon and link turrets with ballistae and giant cutter blade-shooting turrets.

you know, if you combined CUT2melee weapons with UT200XRPG in an invasion gametype, it would make an RPG.
