Onslaught/CTF mixture gametype
I think my idea for a new gametype, mine may not get your interests but you could have like a mix of onslaught and CTF. basically, a team has to dominate the arena, like in onslaught before you destroy the core, but you can't destroy the core. instead you have the chance to take the flag and, like many people mentioned, the flag carrier cannot use vehicles or the nodes. he has to run with it while others in vehicles have to protect him/her. then when they score the nodes are set to neutral again.

Sounds fun but also sounds like alot of work so the flag carrier can't use vehicels in anyway...

IMHO, The problem is, whatever team has most of the nodes will most likely be able to successfully return the flag. So bringing the flag back becomes more of a formality and thus thus the game is essentially ONS.
This is why I suggest (more info here) locking powernodes to the team of the closest base, so that both teams always have an equal "respawn" (though in this case more of a respawn and teleport) start, just like in normal CTF. But use of the ball, another disirable object to aquire allows certain priviledges, such as choosing which one enemy power node to disable, or using it for an instant flag return or an additional flag point.
The flagrunner perhaps could also have dodging disabled yet have maybe 1.5 to 2X speed, so that it doesn't take a half hour to get to base, yet still presents a challenge to return the flag while also sparing the flag carrier from dodgejumping over and over and over again.
