After you deploy a turret, are you able to get into it?

1: Yes, because this makes deployable turrets more effective :P
2: No, and stop asking dumb questions greenhat

Please choose one response, and dont make up your own response

Keep in mind that I'm talking about the upcoming UT2004 version of ChaosUT, not any of the old ones.

Getting into your own turret could be cool. Imagine being able to 'deploy' an enery turret in the enemy's base. Of course, the turret would be highly vulnerable to attack while deploying and wont be too strong.

Getting 'into' the Chaos turrets is something that Mr. Spa has talked about doing as far back as UT99, but for one reason or another it just never happened. But to be honest, now that you can get into standard UT2004 turrets, I'm kinda glad ours are different.

Anyway, what we have working now is the turret cam. This means that if you have an active turret, and a turret launcher, then you can hit the AWO key, and see what the turret sees.

What we hope to have soon, is the actual remote control of the turrets, thru the AWO key. Please note however, that remote control will be available only in Chaos game types, and not when using just the Chaos mutator.

But even if the remote control feature doesn't make it in the 1st release, the turret cams are pretty cool. Especially since all team turret cams are 'networked', so in games like CTF, you can cycle thru the view of any turrets belonging to your team. Very useful stuff.

We have a working turret cam HUD, but I've not pictured it just yet because I believe there is an updated one due soon.

Hope you enjoy them when they come. And please come back to this and let us know what you think when you use them.
