What would you like in a new ChaosUT2 server?

So I have a ChaosUT2 server up called Twisted's Place. It's running ONS with the CBP2 maps at the moment. Here is your chance to help make it better. Tell me what you want.

To help in your choices the server specs are 2.4GHz dual Xeon with 2G ram on a T1 Internet connection. Please don't turn this into a Xeon vs AMD war. I don't have a spare AMD to use a s a server. So what should I set the server up as?

What gametype?

Multi-gametype voting setup?

How many player? (set to 16 at the moment)

Bots? If so how many?

What else would you like to see?

This is my first try at a server so feedback on performance is appreciated. Hope you have fun on it. ut2004://209.176.193.13:7777

I think there should be 4 bots, to keep the player happy while he is waiting for other's to join. And when someone joins, the bot leaves.
Multigametype would be the best yes.
I want CTF gametype standard
16 players is good for now. If the server is getting very popular then you should add more spots if that is applicable.
I want:
Both CBP

ChaosUT2

Some classic UT99 maps
UTcomp?
UTsecure
Latest beta patch perhaps?
This is just suggestions like u asked

If I come up with more ideas, I’ll let you know
P.S. Excuse my bad English. Dutch here

Yes bots!
If the server is empty and you wait for other poeple it might take 10 minutes but also 30, or an hour. That is very boring! So with bot's you can have fun while waiting for someone to join.
I wont wait 30 minutes for a player. 10 mins max for me

HI!
Thanks for running a Chaos server, that's awesome!
Obviously, you'll find as many opinions as you do 'nicks', but here's mine:
I like CCTF, or maybe ONS, and NO game type voting. I prefer to pick my servers based on what they are running, and not have to keep changing when my fav game type get's voted out. (or a map I just got done playing half hour ago get's voted again by newcomers)
I prefer bots, and at least 4 player min, just to barely keep me interested while waiting for humans. No bots means sometimes nobody to play, or maybe 1 on 1 in maps like Torlan, and IMO, that is just not worth my time at all. ONS and CTF are not 1on1 (or even 2on2 IMO) game types.
I don't like servers who are so eager for variety that the server itself becomes a place to try out new maps. I too want to play something beyond the standard maps, but I'm not into constant downloads for "trial" purposes. I would rather see a bit fewer, adding just the highest of quality custom maps. (like a CTF-Unearthed for example)
But again, you'll hear it all. Best guess is to go with what you like, and just play and have fun.
Thanks again!
[Edit: btw - there's more to mess and have fun fooling with than just the game type, of course. For example, the most fun I've had so far on our public PR3 server, has to be CCTF on Setekh, and no xloc.... , but also by going into the Chaos options, and giving players the GravBelt at startup. This setup, on that map, really kicks

]
Thank you for the input.

Thanks to all for the input. The server is set right now for 6 bots and balance teams. If I remember right there was an issue with that but I don't remember what it is. The mapvote is up and you can choose between ONS and CTF. (sorry R.Flagg) Mainly I'm an ONS fan but CTF with some good people would be worth a try.

Please leave me feedback on server performance when you have had a chance to play it. If I have enough horsepower I will run 2 servers. One for ONS and one for CCTF. A lot will depend on T1 traffic. I can't let the server interfere with other traffic on the pipe.

R.Flagg. What you say makes a lot of sense. I'm new to UT so I have a lot to learn about the community. I played the original Unreal and Return to Na Pali but didn't get into UT until 2K4 came out. So pardon my ignorance if I ask dumb questions. The main thing is I have the resources for the server and I want it to get used. I may not be on much as I had to go back to dialup - very painful, but I enjoy spec'ing a good game almost as much as playing.

Some of the other suggestions are great. I will work on getting more quality maps but my time to work on this is limited so it will be a long term project. The server is running AntiTCC 115a for those who care. The server should be up 24/7 so drop in if you have a chance. If I'm on my player name is the same as my nick so if you need anything just let me know. Thanks all.

Great. Good luck with the server. And as long as it's running Chaos, we'll list it on our site for you as well.
And of course come to play. Which btw, I just tried to do, but there must be some sort of conflict. Because I guess AntiCC is accusing me of cheating, and wouldn't let me on.
Something about a longnamedGUIController maybe?
Then again, maybe it's just me.

I also just added you to a section we have on our forums for Chaos server admins.
A place to discuss cheat software maybe, and those caught by it, or ini settings, whatever.
Thanks again for the server, we'll do whatever we can to help.

Thanks R.Flagg. You caught the server in the middle of a reload. I dumped AntiTCC for now, it was giving some strange problems. I got detected as running speedhack. Try in about 10 minutes and it should be ready for the trial runs.

The speedhack is a bug build in in the latest patch. I am not sure if it is also the fault of you're cheatsoftware.
But speedhack detection usually happens with lagg :S
And if you want I can find good quality maps for you if you wish?

Yep. It looks patch related. Could be lag too but I have a ping of 12 and a 100Meg connection to the server at the moment. Well not at his moment as the server crashed hard and I have yet to get it back up.

Help finding maps would be great. Just point me to the ones that the community likes and I will get them set up. Thanks HardObject.

Finally the servers are up to the point I am happy with them. I have 2 servers running. One is 16 player ONS and one is 12 player CCTF. Mapvote is enabled for both. The speedhack detected problem is fixed. There is a small glitch on the ONS server. When you first start the game and hit a weapon locker the game will lag for a second. If you just ignore it, it will go away.

Thanks for the map info HardObject. The screenshots look nice. I will get them installed when a download slot opens up.

Now all that is left is to have fun on the servers and tweak the settings as I go. If you have any suggestions or want a special setup on a server leave a reply here or PM me. As always feedback on performance or anything in general is always welcome.
