For those user that have a GPF like this:
UT2004 Build UT2004_Patch_[2004-05-10_17.18]

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: GenuineIntel Unknown processor @ 2669 MHz with 254MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 (5664)

General protection fault!

History: CheckTag <- LoadSummary <- ULinkerLoad::ULinkerLoad <- UObject::StaticAllocateObject <- (Package omat) <- UObject::StaticConstructObject <- ULinkerLoad::CreateExport <- (omat 8653833) <- IndexToObject <- ULinkerLoad::CreateExport <- (Artemisportrait 8653833) <- ULinkerLoad::Create <- UObject::StaticLoadObject <- (Engine.Material artemis2.omat.artemisportrait NULL) <- CacheParseLine::Players <- UxUtil::CacheLoad <- UxUtil::CacheGet <- UxUtil::execGetPlayerRecord <- (ChaosGUI_UT2K4GUIController Package.ChaosGUI_UT2K4GUIController @ Function XInterface.GUIController.PrecachePlayerRecords : 0013) <- UObject::execClassContext <- (ChaosGUI_UT2K4GUIController Package.ChaosGUI_UT2K4GUIController @ Function XInterface.GUIController.PrecachePlayerRecords : 0013) <- UObject::ProcessEvent <- (ChaosGUI_UT2K4GUIController Package.ChaosGUI_UT2K4GUIController, Function XInterface.GUIController.InitializeController) <- UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine <- FMallocWindows::Free <- FMallocWindows::Free

where it can not find the ChaosGUI_UT2K4GUIController, this is pointing to a possible install issue. One or more of the chaos files that our GuiController needs is not found, so it can not create itself, and thus the crash. Below is a list of where all of the files for ChaosUT2 should be in. I have not listed the help files or maps as those (while important) will not cause a GPF if they are missing. Please double check to ensure you have all of these files in these locations:

There are a few files here that are probably not 100% critical to be in this list but figured to leave them in just to be safe. Note how we have some in the UT2004\system dir as well. Please for those users that have this issue can you double check to ensure you have these files in the right place? Thanks again for your time. And sorry for your trouble.

what it looks like when i open up my zip

then when i enter into the chaos folder

then into my maps

then players

system

staic meshes

sounds

ok, after i get out of the chaos folder, and back to the first picture posted, i go into the regular system folder, the one that goes to ut2004/system, not ut2004/chaos/system, and it looks like this

The sounds and the music links are messed (sounds goes to static meshes, music goes to system). But from what i saw it looks normal (at least as in all the files are there).

Also not sure where that ambcity.uax jb listed came from.. but its not required as far as i know (have it in my install folder but not in my .zip.. which i know worked).

Well from what i saw your ZIP looks fine.. that doesnt mean it installed correctly.

Hate to ask this but can you hand check the file list jb gave with the locations in your UT2004 install and see if you are missing anything?

____________________EDIT!________________________
i found my problem, but i cant fix it...the two system file that should be in ut2004/system, are in ut2004/chaos/system...so i put them in their proper place. Well when i go to play it, it give me the same error, so i open up the chaos system, and bam, they are right back in the folder where i just took them out, the game overrides what i do...how do i stop that?

still doesnt work. Ok, first, i made them readonly and moved them to my desktop, i start up ut2004 and go to the comuunity and then hit activate for the mod, and well, it gives me the same bullcrap. So i go back to system, sure enough, two brand new files i just got done deleting have been made again....and the files i through to my recycle bin, well they are there, so it make copys and duplicuts. AHHHHHHH, some one help

Can Anyone help me with this, i get this error.

UT2004 Build UT2004_Build_[2004-03-03_02.42]

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: GenuineIntel Unknown processor @ 2819 MHz with 510MB RAM
Video: RADEON 9800 XT (6414)

Failed to enter ChaosNoIntro.ut2: Can't find file 'ChaosNoIntro.ut2'

History: UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine

The ChaosNoIntro file is in G:\Games\UT2004\ChaosUT2\Maps and ive checked Jb's list.
The files in my music directory are

UT2004\Music\Arenatest2.ogg
UT2004\Music\CE-FinalApproach.ogg
UT2004\Music\CE-Skytrain.ogg
UT2004\Music\CE-Thermochemical.ogg
UT2004\Music\WarGate.ogg

I seem to be missing UT2004\Music\CE-ChaosMenu.ogg

I put the chaos intro file into UT's System Directory and it loaded UT, but not the modded version, Just UT2004

Well.. i made a post.. then deleted it.. then found out it was right:

It appears from the message that your UT2004 install is not patched up to the current official version (3204). The patch for that version is availible at http://www.unrealtournament.com and should be about 12 megs i think. Once that is installed, check your UT2004\ChaosUT2\System folder and see if there are files named ChaosUT2.ini and/or ChaosUT2user.ini. If they are present, remove them. Then start up the game and see if that fixes your problem.
