I have noticed while playing invasion in both UT2k3 and UT2k4 that occaisonally after someone throws a vortec in a group of monsters the vortec and the monsters will go zipping away in a random direction.
Is this a bug, an 'enhancement', or is there some way to stear the vortec?

(Note: The 2 main Invasion servers I play on run both the Chaos and Excessive mods.)

It was weird. I was playing Chaos CTF on Face3 with some bots, and I picked up the Gravity Vortex. I went over near the front of their base, and launched the Vortex right in front of their main base entrance, which was at the front. I started lobbing standard grenades into the vortex to see if they would fly around like the Phoenix bombs in that pic you had a while back. Then, all of a sudden, the vortex just flies upwards to about 100 ft and dissipates, taking several body chunks and with it. I stood there for 6 seconds trying to figure out, and then some bot killed me. I have used the Vortex several times, but this is the first time this has ever happened to me. Is this supposed to happen?

it seems like the opposite of what was plannned(vortex moving rockets)

Once it fires up.. the vortex itself should not move. That said, fast moving projectiles (and players) can and have been known to orbit it.

Yeah but this time the Vortex shot straight up into the air and dissipated.

It was AWESOME!

if you find out how to do it,then CTF players would cattapult theyre flag carriers around with that(no FF servers)

I was able to put a vortex under a couple bulldogs for the same effect.

Well, the vortex isn't exactly a controlled phenomenon. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to leave that in, after all, a vortex that occasionally exhibits highly unusual or random behavior isn't all that unrealistic.

It wouldn't be the 1st time.

(not to be taken as endorsement for this particular idea, though)

it would actually be a good idea to leave it in,chaotic

How about you allow weapons to remove limbs while the players are still alive? They can run around with their health constantly dropping until they get a health pack and grow it back!

And how about locational damage? Shots to the arm should hurt a lot less than headshots or crotch-shots!

And could you make it so that Vortexes interact with each other? Like two Vortexes orbiting each other and colliding to create giant Mega-Vortexes!
