Whats the status of koth-hq?

I was thinking about ways of make koth maps, and how any map could be a koth map if it had a zone.
And given that I've got time on my hands, strong programming knowledge and a copy of the special edition UT2004 DVD, I thought I'd see if I could find a way to do this.

But I was suprised to discover in the koth code that an attempt had already been made. I tested it out and found that it was incomplete. Has this been abandonded? Do the ChaosUT team mind if I play this, or other ways of making koth maps?

I think he means, that he was trying to make it so any map could be played as a KOTH map. He found that they tried to do so in the KOTH code, but it was abanndoned. Did I get that right?

Not sure I follow can you explain if your talking about the other koth mod's maps?

Koth-hq was another '03 koth mod. Seperate from Chaos.

At some point in time, one or more of our coders (I forget who) made it possible to play those maps in Chaos, just so folks could have more options.

And if I remember correctly, it was not "incomplete", or "abanndoned". I believe they did exactly what they set out to do.

My guess is that this is what you have come across in your KOTH code spelunking.

Yes as of UT2k3 our koth mode would load up the KOTH-HQ maps and allow them to play some what ok. We have not really checked it in our UT2k4 version however I don't think it would not work.... Does this help?
