Onslaught: Chaos Style

Heres My proposal for a Spiced up Chaos version of Onslaught
remember this is merely a proposal and nothing that has been decided on
Spicy Chaos Onslaught
sCO is played at the simplest level just like regular onslaught , with the obvious inclusion of Chaos Features like Melee weapons. However Chaos takes the Onslaught Gametype to the next level with a Fancy little feature I like to call the Chaospoints system. The Chaospoints system take the team based action of Onslaught and adds Bonuses Based on the Agressiveness of the players.

This system works as such. each player earns points from frags or from Node captures or other actions. in turn these points count towards the teams Point reserves. These points can then be spent at Designated areas(in the case of Onslaught it would be the Core) to perform some special actions.

Activating Special actions can be accomplished by Walking up to the Core and hitting E. In normal onslaught this brings up the Warp Menu. but in sCU , an extra Tab of Special abilities will be available. selecting a Special ability and then selecting a Node will Deploy that ability on/near the selected node

The Node Strikes. These are the Actions that can be purchased with Chaos Points. and their corresponding prices

10-Link Turret. This Deploys a chaos enhanced link turret on top of the selected node. This link turret lacks offensive attack capability but will automagically use its link beam to heal any nearby Friendly vehicles , and will link up with any nearby players holding linkguns
10-Disruptor Strike. This will cause a fountain of 10 Disruptor grenades to launch upwards into the air from out of the center of the node. what goes up must come down however , and the grenades "should" come down one by one in a downward baragge in the area around the node. Disabling any vehicles nearby
15-Frag strike. Identical to the Disruptor strike , except it uses Standard Frag Grenades instead
20-Napalm Strike Identical to the disruptor strike, but using napalm grenades
25-Poison Strike Identical to Disruptor strike , but using Poison grenades (go figure)
30-Node shield: This Deploys a temporary Defensive shield around the node in question. the shield adds 1000 hit points to the node , but disappears after one minute
40-Vehicle duplication: this Takes any Vehicles near a node and duplicates them. This does not effect the Leviathan.
60-Needler Carpet Bomb: this essentially Sends a Bomber flying over the selected node With a Jolly payload of Needleballs. the Pattern of Dropping is roughly 6 needleballs at a time at the same interval as the regular bombers Bombs, these needleballs are launched downward in a shotgun pattern for maximum chaos
80-Proxy Paradrop. 100 Proxies parachuting in from the Bomber to the selected node. They hum ride of the valkries and roll on landing
100-Monster Warp. The Fella's from DoC make their Cameo in onslaught with this special ability. it generally opens a Strange Rifty thing on top of the selected node. this rifty thing spawns a maximum of 60 monsters that trickle out and Charge towards the nearest enemy node. The Monsters will not attack their home team unless provoked.[/b]

sounds sweet but that would need a cooldown, becouse a team with a nice supply of points could do 8x napalm strikes as soon as anyone nears the node

also somekind of anti newb protection is required becouse one may hop in and waste all points at disruptor grens at a locked node

Cool idea! :D

Good point. How about an elected team leader that could use the points... but if the elected leader is a newbie that defeats the whole point. It could work off the top few players at getting chaospoints, then you've got to work for the right to make important desicions.

I think that anti noob protection isnt necessary. If someone screws up the other players will probably catch on and scold him. then the noob will know better as to how to use the system. plus its better imo to leave it open to the usage of everyone than just to the elite few. It means that cooperation can deal powerful defensive and offensive strikes. I do agree that there should be a cooldown time on each of the abilities PER node. I also forgot to mention that a team can only use the special abilities/strikes on their own established nodes , but i guess thats a given.

How about a Mutant action that turns a selected player (not the user) into a mutant, with the adrenaline combos and health and weapons.

How about a special bonus to the team that's losing?

Those are awesome ideas :D .

While it's true that a newb will not misuse the team points twice, it doesn't mean others won't. For instance say there is a jack-ass on you team who everybody hates (we have all met these kind of people). Just to piss your team off he decides to go the nearest node and waste all the points in disruptors. Or say theres a sore loser on the other team who is getting owned. He quickly changes on to your team, uses all of your points, and then switches back.

These problems are unavoidable unless you make it so that only the people with the two highest scores (only the person with the highest if its a 1 on 1) can use the points. That way no newb will be able to because they won't have any points, and an ******* probably won't be able to as they usually suck. And people can't just switch from team to team because it will erase their score. An added bonus of this is that it will increase aggresiveness of players on a team and will stop camping (camping doesn't net a large score).

Two words: Kick vote :D

Or you can make a sort of llama system so that people explode and lose points if they switch teams, lame, and then switch back.

How about letting people use abilities only if their points are greater than or equal to the point cost of the abilities? Like only 100 point people can do the portal, etc.

I still stick to saying that having them free to use for everyone is the best route. if someone is being a lamer(Which i believe is the term you were looking for  ) then they should be Kicked . plain and simple.

unfortunately, not all servers have taht option. And if the jackoff has a friend in the server your screwed.

Maybe we should make it so that the points are usable by (The number of people in ther server)/4 rounded up. That way if there is a huge brawl of 30 people it would allow 8 people on each team to use the points. And with very small games of 6 or 7 people it would allow 2 on each team.

didnt see that post of yours there. I think that Part at the end is a great way to balance things.

I also think that just for fun if/when we make Chaos Onslaught , even if this system isnt included , we certainly need some Spiffy color coded fireworks that shoot out of all of the nodes whenever a team wins

that would work really well, because that way you can't rush off to do that portal thing at the beginning of the game.

The portal costs 100 points. You don't exactly have 100 points at the beginning of the game. :D

And a cool-down system would definitely be a good idea.

It depends how many points you get for doing certain objectives. Pepito didn't quite specify how much each thing gives.

Making a node:
Destroying a node:
Destroying a manta:
Destroying a Tank
Destroying a Hellbender
Destroying a Leviathon
Destroying a Raptor
Getting killing sprees and higher:
Damaging enemy core:
(and hundreds of other little things you could do

I don't think you get extra points for killing a vehicle. You just get points for the kill.

Extra points for Leviathan kills would be good though.

Maybe points for getting in game awards like hit and run.
