Your mod busted my entire game. How do I fix it?

Ok so I installed this because the melee weapon idea intrigued me. I noticed that in Instant Action I was unallowed to use custom maps. Offical Maps Only was checked and ghosted. This really pissed me off because it made zero sense. Anyways I played a couple games and then I wanted to play regular. I closed the game and started up UT2004.exe alone and to my surprise, I couldn't load any custom maps! The box wasn't checked/ghosted and I could select the maps but when I tried to start it lags for a second then nothing happens and im still in the Instant Action menu. I know for a fact your mod caused this because I (stupidly) tried the same thing on my other comp and I can't play custom maps there either anymore. I've tried rebooting, reapplying the latest patch, yelling at weasels until they attack each other.. Nothing works. Any help would be great. And I'd like a reason as to why you don't want people playing custom maps on your mod.

Oh and I also tried uninstalling the mod completely. Didn't reinstall it though.

We DO allow people to play custom maps in our mod.. but a weird bug with the mod switch occasionally disables them. That said, our mod should not change ANYTHING in normal UT2004 if installed right.
Anyways, to fix the maps issue:
Locate your ChaosUT2user.ini in your UT2004\ChaosUT2\System folder. Scroll down to the section named:
[GUI2K4.UT2K4Tab_MainBase]
Under it there should be a couple of settings, the most important of which is: bOnlyShowOfficial, which you want to set to false.

Ok I did that and now I *see* custom maps on the list but still can't play them

Well that's not good.
Hmm..., has the weasel approach turned up anything yet?

Check the Chaos logfile. It should be UT2004\ChaosUT2\System\ChaosUT2.log.
I have seen this happen before to me. If I recall correctly, it was due to a missing or corrupt file.
