Team Duel Server!!!

Thats right.. I got a Team Duel server! .. Kinda :o

1. I've Made my server a Team KOTH server
2. Turned on Melee Only
3. And made copies of the Duel maps and renamed them KOTH (i.e. KOTH-Arena][.ut4)

This isn't exactly perfect, as there really are no rounds or timers. when you die, you just respawn right away, and the scoring doesn't work. BUt on the plus side, the person you kill gives up his melee weapon to you, so if you kill more, you can choose which weapon to fight with.

I've uploaded the maps to my Http redirect so they will DL fast when you join the server.

The only catch is, you have to look for Chaos Team KOTH Gametypes to find it!

So look there and find me! and put my in Favorites so you can find it again easily!

Hey!!!

Have to give you credit for being creative on this one :) So does it work ok for this? Sorry just takes some time to get to a duel team game.

You know, it does! I mean there is no scoring, and the funniest thing is that the AI are SUPER evasive! Its amazing, they will jump, turn around, Fake turning directions, jump forward and head backwards! They run laps like this until you finally catch up to one and hit them, then they seem momentarily interested in fighting you... i guess this is because they are trying to find the KOTH spot on the duel maps and are coming up empty. But its fun to chase them, they evade like humans.

And I have yet to play another human since I just made the server. But I have seen a few people check it out. Its basically just kill/respawn/kill, but the team functionality definitely works with your own teams bots. They even say "Im on your team idiot" if you hit them. But I must say the bonus of getting to pickup the weapon of the person that you killed would be great in the real duel and (upcoming i hope) team duel versions, I know this was mentioned with the way the weapon falls its not really an actor, but a karma factor, but just something to check out and think about.

I think it will at least do for now :)

Yep you are right, they are looking for the hill.

WOW, I guess we better give ya Team Duel before there is a riot!!!
Verry inventive!!!! allthough i would think that you would get just about the same thing from converting the maps over to DM except the Bots would try to actualy kill you.

Nice workaround =)

Btw.. instead of renaming the maps, you could use a map-switching mutator. Xmaps used to do it, and im sure there is a clone out there for UT2004. MapMixer 2 sounded like it fit the ticket, but i havent used it myself.

Well my original thought was to use the Chaos DM .. but realized it wasn't Team based after doing it that way, so figured since the KOTH is the only gametype with a team aspect, it will have to be done that way.

And thanks for the tip jeditobe... i will look into this. (up)

In the server, there is a major problem with the grapple hook. Since you can now kill people with it, some have resorted to spamming the thing and running away.

Also, there is a problem with the larger pickups. While playing in the Henge map, pickups would often spawn in bunches in the occult temple place. It really slows the game down.

Yea i thought i noticed bunching of powerups.. ill run the nopowerup mut to fix this. Didnt know about the grapple hook could kill you now.. havent messed with it enough to see any game play hinderence

The grapple has its damage disabled in melee duels specifically for that reason =-(
