Annoying Bug

When playing on Melee weapons only, I can't see my character holding a weapon, she just flails her arms out in the air as if she had a weapon.

When she has daggers, only the left hand dagger is shown in her hand. the right doesn't show.

Please fix this bug, As Melee weapons is my most favorite mode of this mutator. :proxy:

Well this is actually the Q2 chaos forum, but i am wondering: are you trying to view melee weapons in first person? They are supposed to be 3rd person only if so.

Also, are you using a custom model? or one of the default ones? Because of the way the melee system works, you have to use a model with the default bone structure in order for it to work correctly (including attaching things to hands).

Sorry about the post in the wrong board. I'm viewing my character in 3rd person, it would not let me view in first person even if I tried. I am using the model Soria, by WarBeast. I'm pretty confident that she uses the default bone structure of the females in ut2k4.

Hi there,

I will not be able to check it out till I get home. However if you try to play a Chaos DM/ Duel/KoTH or ChaosDM/TDM game, switch to melee, quite, then look at the chaosut2.log file (found in your Ut2004\chaosut2\system dir). If you can post any error messages you see that can help us know to figure out what the issue maybe.

And/or simply try another player model. Does it work for you with Brock for example?

with that weapon over her back id hazard a guess its not the default model (might be a modified version of it.. but still that could cause issues...)

I ran some tests. Here are the characters i tested and whether they worked or not.

Glumpf - yes.
Brock - yes.
BioArmorFem - yes
Liandri Angel - yes
Soria -- no
Kitty -- no
Hitman -- Yes.

If I use either Soria or Kitty, The log says this when the match begins:

Log: AttachToBone: No bone named [Bone_weapon] found in actor ChaosxDeathMatch_Pawn's skeleton.

oh, btw, another error: When you open up the list of bots available when the mod is not loaded, the list kind of repeats itself twice.

Thanks for your time to test these.

The code is looking for the place in the modle called Bone_Weapon to attach the melee weapon too. All of the standard models have this, it looks like those models dont and there is not much we can do about it :(

Also if you get duplicate enteries you can try to remove the xplayers1/2.upl in the ChaosUT2\system dir.

You could ask the model author to update the model. Sometimes they are willing to do that. But it's up to them.
