Well I do understand why people dont like CS. However CS is the on-line game to play. Its been in the number 1 spot for almost 3 years ago. In fact if you take the other top 20 games add their players up your still about 1/2 as many that play CS. And HL is still a game that other of todays games get reviewed against. Which its not bad considering its a 3 year old game. Make no mistake about it, HL2 is set to be THE biggest game this year...will it take that crown? No idea....

imo Vampire:Bloodlines couldve take that crown away becouse it seems to be something better judging from the review...quite freeform RPG FPS Vampire=Pwn

That depends on how you measure things. IMHO the best games are still DeusEx1 and Gothic 1&2 - however, they were propably just not suited for the average gamer. HalfLife was and I think HL2 will, too...

I would have said doom three was slotted to be the biggest game of the year, but oh well.

Yea I would have too. But the MP in doom3 is none-existant in all practicle terms. However the MP part of HL2 is CS which is what will push HL2 pass Doom3 IMHO...

is it Could care less or Couldn't? Cuz if you think about it, caring less means you really dont care plus you care even less than that.. so you are really a person who not only 'doesn't care' but could also care less than that.

Whereas Couldn't care less means you dont care, but you dont go any lower than don't caring, you just don't care, which is still caring more than caring less.

You see?

*prepares to be slapped*

Anywayz I could/couldn't care less too! :)

and how does something go gold when its not even released? (or did i miss that memo?)

Rythm, he means that he cares so little about the subject, that he could not possibly care less about it. His level of "not-caringness" is at the absolute minimum. To care less anymore than he currently does would be impossible.

"Going Gold" means that the game is completely done (no more tweaks, bug fixing, etc.) and they are in the process of mass-producing the game discs and boxes and such.

Anyways, I haven't really been following HL2, so all I know is that it carries some crazy physics stuff, nice unscripted action, and contains some weird dark science plot (never finished the first). I'm more interested in Halo 2.

Agreed,DeusEx1 roxored my boxored(i first tried it in 2003 and still thought it was great, thats gotta mean something)

Imo top 3 games
Deus ex-Flawless,goal
Baldur's Gate Series(The computer ones not the console thingy that has forgot the BG gameplay)-Reviwed The RPG genre,R-I-P Blackisle
Unreal tournament 99-A game that took the words "gritty, gibby deathmatch" to a new level

PCGamer mag Gave HL2 a 98% (out of 100 , duh!) thats gotta be worth something.

They also stated
"It raises the bar for interactive entertainment, and then uses that bar to club all other games into submission. . . "

Thats nice,
But I still don't care.

I will NEVER buy/play a game from a company that treats its fans with as much disrepect as Valve.

Well if the disrespect was so high..... It wouldn't have such a huge mod community.

But come on. A science fiction plot with a good graphics engine? Where have you heard that one before? Lol.
